I see he's decided to slap a 100% tariff on films made "in foreign lands" now as they're a "National Security threat and propaganda!"

This is a major issue for the UK as the TV and Film industry is one of the areas where we are truly world leading and a lot of Hollywood studios work over here

There is a petition, not that anyone in Parliament takes any notice of such things.

The last Petition against Trump making a State visit received nearly 2 million signatures and was duly debated in Parliament but got nothing more that the standard Government response

Still worth signing because it does publicly air the antipathy felt towards Trump which can only be a good thing imo.

But Change.org? Hmm …Such a misnomer.

Pandering is the only way you can get this guy to change his mind. Which, like it or not, we need to do. But we all know we are sniggering at him behind his back, so whatever.
Standing up to the wanker works better. Look at the deal Zalensky ended up with! Mr Charisma hasn't succeeded in doing anything at all so far, apart from giving the wanker a letter in an awkward staged press conference. Now our taxes will be used to police his arrival. We should set off black smoke bombs along the whole route.

You think Zelensky got a good deal after standing up to Trump in the oval office? Doesn't feel like it. Trump is just one big ego that needs stroking. Call him whatever you want, think whatever we want about him, he's the most powerful man in the world and the first I remember actually using that power.....

Ukraine isn’t in a situation where it has its entire military and intelligence community intertwined with the USA and has to keep them on side at almost any cost. We are.

How then did he get the deal, one basically rubbishing everything the kunt banged on about. Perhaps standing up to him.

You mean the minerals deal? it took several months of grovelling at the feet of Trump to get that resurrected. AND, they had something Trump wanted. If there is something Trump wants, then it is a business deal. If there isn't, then stroke his ego. That's Trump.

one of the big problems implementing this, is that almost all films are made internationally, be it location, studio ownership, special effects, editing, music etc. so what classifies as being a "foreign" film. The big studios own smaller ones, some US based, others not. Amazon own various studios, . Most films are joint productions with no one studio on the hook for all the costs, distribution is often handled by a different studio than production etc

Its a bit like most manufacturing these days, nothing is truly made in one country anymore, so all this will do is slap yet another tax on almost every film shown in the US, and if film is on his list then it will be TV next

Really? Have you seen the final deal compared to what Trump wanted? Hardly grovelling.

These "deals" Trump does, he hardly has a good record.

Precisely.
Telling Trump to f*** off, with instant reprisals, is playground politics.
Watching Trump make a tit of himself in front of Charles will be great fun.
Let him fawn.
Let us raise an eyebrow.

I just hope there isn't too much disruption from the armpit hair-weavers,
on they way back from a protest against Starmer for not invading Israel
or stopping oil.

Well, getting him to help stop the war, thats the grovelling bit. The minerals deal, that's the business bit, they have something Trump wants. I guess Trump wants to sign regardless so that he doesn't have to buy the minerals from China (in two decades, but whatever). And anyway its not him actually doing the negotiating. He just wants a deal he can wave at the public and tell everyone how great the deal is, regardless if it actually is

The rest, yeah agree, hes a complete charlatan.

Say something populist but absolutely mental and impractical, rally the idiots, later claim you were joking. Again, and again.
And situations like this are why I never believe a word he says. The guy is so facking tedious.

How will this work? What does the 'tariff' actually go on to? Will cinemas be forced to charge the customers double if it's a 'foreign' film? Or what exactly?
