I expect I know a lot more about it than you,
especially given you have admitted you know nothing.
Aren't you a moderator?
Pull yourself together and stop behaving like a tit
Let’s get something clear. Moderators, when discussing a particular topic, carry no more or less weight than someone who’s just signed on.

I had this last night and now a fellow mod is getting it. If you don’t like our joke or opinion that’s fine but don’t weight it.

“Aren’t you a moderator?” Is becoming the new get out clause around here.

Can I suggest you read my (very few) previous posts on this thread before you continue with your ridiculous assertions.

I have not admitted I know nothing about the topic of this thread. I have indeed admitted I know nothing about universities (despite my partner being a senior lecturer at one).

I have read all of the SC judgement, EA 2010, GRA 2004, and the full Hansard transcripts of the debates in the Commons and Lords on the topic in question. As you’d know if you’d read my previous posts.

Moderators are allowed to post on any topic they wish. Since you imply impropriety on my behalf, please be advised that I told mod towers many days ago that I felt unable to moderate this thread since I have a personal interest in the topic. As you’d also know if you’d read my previous posts.

I may be a tit.

On the topic of this this thread, you’re an uneducated, insufferable bore yapping on incessantly over a half of mild and bitter.

I repeat my assertion. On the topic of this thread, your posts indicate you know f*** all.

You made a silly comment about university standards (not the thread's main topic) which annoyed me
because it was both incorrect and condescending.
(My reaction may have been a tad harsh - if so I apologize).
Then you launched into a tirade about my qualifications for commenting on the main topic of the thread.
Nobody else is trying to dig me out for my posts on the TG situation.
If you consider that everything I have posted on this thread is insufferable yapping, why not explain?
Instead of getting testy after making daft comments about university marking?
I maintain that your comments about universities was silly. We appear to agree.
But I fail to understand why you have suddenly jumped on my posts about the TG situation.
Anyway, I respect your revelation that you have stepped aside from moderating this thread.
That is an honourable stance if you have an axe to grind.
It is a pity you decided to embed said axe into the back of my head, but never mind.
I am happy to not post anything more on this thread,
and would be happy to delete any posts that are actual drivel.

Apologies for that.

Context though: The 'all your comments are drivel' studs up tackle seemed out of place from a moderator.
No moderator has said anything remotely close to that to me in 20 plus years.
And I have of course posted some complete bollocks in my time

Gracious of you to offer a dove (😉).

Let me change a couple of words in your opening paragraph:

“You made several silly comments about the thread's main topic which annoyed me because they are incorrect and condescending”

That describes perfectly my view, which is why you got the response you did from me.

I set out to generate a hurt and angry response, and was pretty certain I would get one. That was petty minded of me, and I apologise.

There’s no need to delete anything. You are a well-educated and seriously bright chap; your views are as valid as anyone else’s, including mine, of course.

I do wonder if you might benefit from reading some of the primary legislation and the SC judgement. I believe you’d see that this is a hugely complex topic, despite what many on here would assert is ‘easy’.

I think your heart is absolutely in the right place, but, despite that, some of your expressed opinions are seriously condescending to those in the trans community with whom I’ve shared them and, imo, factually incorrect.

Could I suggest to my esteemed academic colleague that they do a little research?

35 pages later, some insults flying about now, NSC demonstrates why people find it so hard to agree on this particular issue.

I think people struggle with ideological problems that occur when there is no right or known correct answer. We see the same with religion.

Whether we completely embrace transsexualism as a society, or decide that in fact is not something deserving of equal rights, there will still be groups that are unfairly harmed by our decisions, somehow.

I do believe by it being SUCH an issue, the divisiveness will harm ALL affected groups. I personally think we should stop talking about it, and just get on with other things, as there are far more pressing issues that we can be passionate about.

Hang on in there, Mustafa. We are working through the issues. We’ll get there.

Ruling now applies to non-league football
BBC News - FA bars transgender women from women's football
The right decision; sport, where physical size and strength play a part, must unequivocally have (biological) women only competitions.

Thanks. Apologies again for getting arsey.
I am mortified if I've been condescending WRT transgender people and the horrible situation they may now face.
That the situation is now not at all straightforward is clear, and I hoped I acknowledged that.
Thanks for recognising my heart is in the right place.
I think I have committed the sin of discussing other people in terms of their lable rather than as humans.
I have done some research but will do more.
Best wishes, and all power to your (professional?) engagement with this issue

Indeed I know very little about universities.

Just as you know very little about the topic being covered on this thread.

Doesn’t stop you posting utter drivel about it incessantly though.

I just thought you might appreciate being on the receiving end of some drivel for a change. Apparently not.
That's one of the most pathetic childish posts I have read for a long time.
Farage school of logic and bluster. Well done
Thread still firmly on track in spite of everything, eh?

Hope it doesn't get derailed................................

I think many hearts are in the right place on this thread but it is greatly lacking in consideration for the trans community an spends a lot of time speaking on behalf of women with little female input (indeed Tha female input has generally pointed out people are on the wrong track).

i agree that more research and (dare I add balance) is required.

I did say 'a decent sonographer'. :D

I remember when Junior Orange was born being sent home to get more baby clothes as none of the new born stuff fitted! So clothing new borns can be an issue irrespective of the colour of the cloth!
O/T but my first born was very large. We got lucky because we hadn't bought any new baby clothes and only had 3 month plus clothes from relatives who thought we'd have got newborn stuff.
The club also kindly gave me a couple of bibs and a hat that he was born too big for.

Two things I’ll go to the grave believing - how in the 21st century we lived through a genocide and people did not have the moral courage to do anything about it, despite all the official propaganda pumped out endlessly about “never again”. Secondly, how a misunderstood and harmless 1% minority in our society got demonised and vilified just because the world’s most awful politicians saw it as an opportunity to get votes from the ignorant and scared.

Never in human history have public toilets been so widely discussed.

Interesting take. Ive mainly seen politicians, high street businesses and big organisations falling over themselves to accommodate this tiny proportion of the population. Virtue signalling at every opportunity.

Also , You will always get your bigots but on the whole the vast majority of the uk population take a “live and let live” view of trans people. That only changes when trans demands impact on other sections of society. That’s a long way from vilification for vilifications sake.

This is before you get to laws that protect trans people. On an international level, that is not a given.

So trans people are not demonised by society as a whole. Thankfully
