Went in after the WHUFC after lower east closed. I guess it's my age , but loud crap music, confusion over how to get served in a building which wouldn't look out of place in a cheap seaside town . I won't be rushing back. Also WHUFC fan wanted to start a fight with someone.

Really do think the music is just too loud but maybe it's a case of "if it's too loud, you're too old".

Suspect this 'away fans welcome as well' rule may change after Leeds visit town next year.

I think it's mainly fine before the game, it's after the game where I foresee problems.
There were loads of WHU in there on Sat after the match, it was mainly good natured because they have nothing to play for. Had that cost them something meaningful then I think it could have been a different story. Sadly I think trouble in there is a case of when rather than if.
I do think it depands on the oppo though. I expect Newcastle will be fine, they are always super welcoming to us. Liverpool, hmmm not so sure, maybe.
Next season the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal and bloody Leeds = no thanks. I don't think the Terrace will open after the Palace match, maybe not before either.

Agree with all that. It's in such a prominent position and very open plan, literally dominating the view as you walk from the train. And let's face it.. we're not exactly Millwall are we, so the temptation is quite strong for opps fans. Would add Villa to the list of undesirables as well (the worst fans according to my cousin who is unfortunately quite close in the SW corner).

Agree that music is completely unnecessarily loud, and also very shit to be honest. Very strange decision to blast that out and make everyone shout at each other. At least you could hear the guy on the PA this week though...although I can't say he's my cup of tea personally.

One thing overlooked though, the screens are absolutely incredible. It was a shame Chelsea won, and Palace in the evening, but seeing hundreds probably thousands of people outside watching the game pre match was quite something. Presumably it won't be like that in the winter, but for the few games we have in nice weather it's incredible. As long as they don't limit that to credit card users...

The whole ‘Amex only’ thing upstairs is BS anyway as long as they allow 4 guests per cardholder. Just open it up to anyone on a first come/first served basis

Yep I agree. I cannot fathom how anyone decided it should be a reward to simply know somebody with a credit card. Get rid of that and I think there would be a lot more good feeling about the place.

Ofc they will sack it off by limiting guests and increasing the rate of the necessary card to get in. But I'll moan about that if/when it happens.

Actually when talking about the crazy decisions with this place, how are tickets selling for the screening of the awards ceremony?

Quickest way by far to get a beer outside seems to be locating one of those guys with the beer backpacks. Done that a few times now. Walked out of the east stand 10 mins after final whistle against West Ham, instantly saw 2 of those guys serving beers with not many people queuing up. Beer in hand, enjoying the sun, less than 5 minutes after exiting the stadium.

Bought one, it was almost completely flat……not much choice between that and the shitshow that’s getting served in the Terrace

Plenty have mentioned the music. Absolutely deafening, it literally drove my son and me out of that place and back to the station with just half an hour of the Palace game gone, we couldn't take it any more (although maybe that was a blessing in itself). I was initially quite happy to have bagged a seat and a pint, and was happily settled there for the game, wrongly assuming that they'd put the sound on at kickoff.

Brilliant screens, but absolutely mental noise level. Made any conversation totally impossible. I won't be back there again post-match if thats the deal.

Was mobbed upstairs after we wandered in post match, and the segregation for TB's little soirée made it more compact.
Although it was sort of 'barriered off' was amazing to see matey in the tie advising a few chums to ignore it and come on through.
Service was ridiculously slow for the first, then it cleared naturally...a combination of waiting, prices and the Deep Purple sound system.

I'm pretty sure the club and the police will have the whole place sealed off to away fans when the risk is high. But when it isn't, I quite like the idea of away fans being welcomed really. West Ham have had a bad reputation in the past, yet one coked up plum causing issues when the place is hosting 3,000 on a hot day seems like something we ought to be able to cope with, and a price worth paying.

If we can welcome away fans then it should mean we are treated well when we go away ourselves.

I'm bouncing my own post. I just knew this would happen BUT did not expect it at 2-2 with us pushing for a winner. Some of the videos of these clowns queuing to get into a f***ing bar which is literally 50 meters from the stadium rather than support the team I found quite depressing, and then having the cheek to celebrate the win, when again they were 50 f***ing meters from it. On principle they should have been told to jog on/barred for life.
Looked like some of the pricks that tried to take over our seats that season
