So, do I have this right?

If Palace win the FA Cup, they get Europa League and it effectively knocks 8th out of European reckoning and kills our dream.

However, if Man City get a points deduction (@El Presidente - are we ACTUALLY expecting this prior to season end, and to be applied to this season?), that pushes everyone up a place and could even mean nabbing 7th and some form of Europe.

So....the ideal situation is that Man City absolutely VIOLATE Palace, but then suffer a massive points deduction - correct?

Have I missed any further potential variables? I also appreciate this all hinges on us finishing at least 8th anyway.

Hurts my head, all of this...

If City win the FA Cup either scenario would still play out with us qualifying for Conference League if we finished 8th (or 7th with a City points deduction).

There is another scenario where we get conference league if we finish 8th and Palace win the cup.

it would require Chelsea to finish 7th and win the conference league.

Unfortunately arsenal winning the champs league will not get an extra place as they are already in top 5, I believe. But, what about Spurs or Utd winning the Europa League and not being in the top 8, what happens then?

Nothing - they'll just win a bonus place.

No one else loses out elsewhere.

If it wasn't for us being in the running for Europe I'd like Palace to beat Citeh. Serial cheats that keep getting away with it and keep getting rewards, they are the likes of Chelsea are hollowing out the game.

Arsenal winning the Champions League and finishing 5th would change things. 6th would get a Champions League spot as well (plus push other qualification places down a place). This is because the extra place given for the co-efficient ranking has to go to a team that hasn’t already qualified for the Champions League.

But that isn’t going to happen.

The winner of the Europa get Champions League but make no odds to the top 5 getting Champions league as well. In other words, if Man Utd or Tottenham win the Europa we get 6 in the Champions league and it has no impact on Conference or Europa allocation.

Every good outcome involves City beating Palace. There is no world where Palace winning the cup is a good outcome.

Beyond that I don't care. I'd happily finish 10th if that happened.

If Newcastle finish in the top 5/6 doesn’t their Conference league place (by virtue of their EFL Cup win over Liverpool) bounce down a place?

I’m just wondering if there’s a crazy scenario where we want to loose next Saturday!
