I'll miss not reading his posts

I read that "I'll not miss reading his posts" and was about to like.

But seriously, while the fella is a little irritating and not remotely self aware, i've never personally read anything he's put and thought he needs to be kicked off. But hey, I guess I don't read all the threads

As have many on here with little or no football knowledge. He was goaded by a self centred individual who always has one finger on the report button. He's had some hard times recently and admitted being on here was helping him through it. I'll miss his contributions.

Perhaps you should name that individual.

Personally I have only once reported Swansman for one incident and that was for antisemitic comments and a long vitriolic personal attack that was completely unacceptable. I know the mods received a number of reports for the same incident.

At other times, I supported his youtube blog, defended him when he was being attacked by others, spoken up in recognition of his football savvy and posted commiserations on his ‘dad’s deceased’ thread.

It is not enough that people ‘have football insights’, people have a right to express points of view without being subjected to racist and personally vindictive public lashings when someone calls them out on posting racist tropes even on NSC which is a lightly moderated forum.

Others also are going through hard times - lets just be kind to each other.

I'd stopped reading his comments way before he was kicked out, either time. When someone constantly insults you and your profession, patronises and condescends you and refuses to see the other side of an argument – and has to have the last word, they get a big 'FACK OFF' from me, I'm afraid.

I don't disagree. The fella is a bit of a bell end sometimes.

I guess if you're on a yellow, you want to think pretty carefully before flying into another challenge.

Indeed. And the impending homelessness.
Some NSC members who have my utmost respect consider some of his posts unforgivable.
I once put him on ignore for a bit, but relented.
I too hope he reappears. The football insights alone are worth the entrance fee.
My one bit of advice is never forget that NSC has a fantastic community element to it.
There is a huge amount of goodwill and camaraderie.
So it is important to acquire sufficient humility to not abuse that.
There is no need to argue every point with every fucker.
If some people make that a tough ask, use the ignore function.
Then you have fewer reasons to lose your shit, or play the man in Joey Barton style.
By and large, this works for me

Yep, and I'll do so now.

The (temporary, initially) ban was instigated by me on the basis of some, in my view, pretty horrible posts. It wasn't on the back of post reports from anyone - I read the posts during my own use of the site, thought "that's not on at all" and acted as a result.

Over the years I've worked hard to gradually turn down the temperature in here to make it a warmer, friendlier place for all.

"Play the ball, not the man" has become an unofficial guideline.

If you don't like someone, put them on ignore, put their thread on ignore or just exercise a little bit of personal restraint. You're not going to win the internet regardless of how smartly you put someone and/or their viewpoint down, so be the bigger man and move on.

I've said it numerous times: I don't run a messageboard to stop people posting messages. Banning people is the very worst part of the "job". I genuinely do not want to ban anyone if at all possible. Many people have enjoyed far more latitude on NSC than they would on pretty much any other similar community.
