That was amazing but not actually that exciting because she didn’t lose a set.

Possibly some of the incredible Wimbledon finals - had I not been distracted by the cricket World Cup final then the fed vs Novak final where fed served for it and lost or Murray’s.

I can’t count football as it is all over too quickly.

I liked him most of the time but the butt licking of him and Laura Davies all got a bit much.

I was really irritated by how little time they gave to building up shot on 15.

Also Paul m is dreadful.
I thought Faldo sounded like he’d spent a bit too long in hospitality. Agree re McGinley, gave the impression he doesn’t actually like Rory that much.

To be fair he was asked a few times for his perspective having won at Augusta. He would be hard pressed not to mention how he played, how he felt etc
Faldo strikes me a massive twat. He'd eat himself if he was an ice cream. He was one step away from this last night :

"It's a fantastic achievement by Rory winning a green jacket, he's only 2 behind me now. He's got the golfing ability to win 3, just like me. He almost showed as much resilience as I did in 96 today"

To be fair he also said when asked about level of achievement that Rory has won all of them and he had not so an achievement he did not achieve.

It reckon it is harder to dominate now because the equipment is such a leveller.

Yeah, that might explain why he kept waffling on and either predicting things that didn't happen or calling problems/hurdles (such as trees in the way) when they weren't. He wasn't the only one to do that, but he was probably the worst of the bunch. Saying he would give Rory a smack in the face after winning for putting HIM through the stress (even in jest) was just weird.

McGinley's rant about how some people don't like Rory the golfer was also very odd.

I echo everything that has been said about Rory and his achievements. But I want to put in a word for Justin Rose who - in my book - is THE model sportsman.

Rose is such a class act - modest in victory, gracious in defeat, a great team player in Ryder Cup, a corporate sponsors dream, and I will be rooting for him at the next major.

Faldo constantly telling us how good he was, wasn't what the situation needed. No wonder he's been married about 78 times.
“I know it’s not about me but when I won my third masters I needed to be perfect with 8 iron on 11, my 3 iron on 15, and I was”

I’ve always liked Faldo but did laugh when I saw the look on Laura Davies face when he was going on about it 😭😭😭

I thought he was class all week, right up until the end. The way he hung back on the green to gave Rory a bit of space, then came in with some nice words and swiftly and quietly made his way out of the melee, was sheer class. Great Q&A session afterwards from me.

Yeah, I got the impression there was no love lost between those two.

‘What’s the plan Rory ?’

’I’m going to hit a 7 iron over 200 yards, over water to a narrow, lightning fast green, with a 40 yard curl around a tree and leave it 6ft from the flag with millions of people watching in the most important round of my life’

‘okay mate’

Have rewatched that shot several times…..it’s unbelievable (under that level of pressure)
Great post , it’s an unbelievable shot on a casual Sunday round of golf with his mates. Let alone in his final round of the masters

I’m absolutely delighted for Rory. Top guy and fantastic player, although I genuinely thought he was going to choke again.

RM will probably target Faldo's record of 6 majors next, as the most successful European player. I think he currently has 5.
Unless that monkey on his back weighs as much as the last major win.
