Some friends of ours have just cancelled a £17k family holiday to the US for a cancellation fee of £500. Good on them.

Obviously it's not possible to boycott USA goods completely, but I'm sure that if everyone who finds Trump and co morally repulsive minimises their spend, it will have a significant effect 
The thing I do find strange is the posters on this thread who seem to be trying to actively discourage others from doing that, criticising those that do and throwing in various other bits of whataboutery.

I agree with your sentiment that every little helps. I avoided buying a US brand of drill last week. I'm looking at some new jeans this week and think instead of buying a pair of Levi 511s, I'll try the equivalent fit in swedish made Nudie. Although most Levi's are made in Japan, so they'll be paying 25% more for them in the US anyway!
One Canadian business Trump won’t be boycotting.

I'm going to try and avoid US goods. Irrespective of the recent u-turn the US has lost any trust from the rest of the world. That will take a very long time to get back.
It's very difficult for me to boycott American. I buy as much Canadian as I can.

As ever you are completely free, within the bounds of law, to do whatever you like according to your own ethical / moral framework. If that's buying tat from Amazon rather than Argos, then bully for you.

At present relief is high from tariffs being paused. However over time, the following inconvenient truths will become apparent:
1. Tariffs are paid by the firms importing goods from a country, so life is still going to get a lot more expensive for Americans, as anything of any complexity will still have parts manufactured in China. It takes years to onshore a supply chain.
2. There are still 10% tariffs in force across the board for every other country. So life will still get 5-10% more expensive for Americans, even with non-Chinese goods.
3. All that has been promised is a 90 day pause. There’s no certainty as to what happens in 90 days time. Businesses won’t invest into a game where they don’t know what the rules are. Trump has effectively shut down investment in the US for 90 days.
4. The bond markets don’t like being messed about, America is about to find that servicing its colossal debt is going to get significantly more expensive.
I can understand an immediate market reaction of exuberance after the pause in tariffs was announced, but when sober heads look at the state of play in America, it’s currently un-investable.
There’s a temporary reprieve in place that in some ways is just as damaging as what preceded it. And all that’s happened is that decisions have been kicked 90 days down the road. I’m not sure America is ready for what’s heading its way.
