We’ve had an incredible season. Records broken on a consistent basis. Worst defeat since the 1950s. Only double loss to Palace since 1933. And two 2-0 leads lost in the last five minutes.

And, yet, we’ve also genuinely had an incredible season in a good way.

It’s pretty hard to process in all honesty.
Double over the 'biggest' club in world history.

Bournemouth.

Sorry, er, (looks up Ladybird Book of Football Clubs), er, Manchester United.
(Easy to get them mixed up).

Our horrendous injury run continues.

I am at peace with the fact that injuries really derail a season, and ours have been bad.

I am at peace with whatever happens in the remainder of the season. When our injury record improves we can show what we can really do.

Following Brighton always has been and always will be a roller coaster of a ride. As it probably is for 90% of the teams in the football league.

Uncle Tony 14/3/25:

It's going to be potentially the biggest two months that the football club has ever had, with the FA Cup, a reasonably kind draw, a lot of the big teams out and we're really pushing on for top five.

“We have just got to keep it going. The form is brilliant.

“Fabian Hurzeler has settled in really, really well this season and we're getting a few players back.

“We've had a lot of injuries all season, but a lot of them getting fit now. So perfect timing.”

He must be well pissed off.

Already tomorrow here, I woke up an hour ago and have to get up and get ready for another day at work.
The real world.

For me it’s all about Brentford - got two wins after the final whistle blows there and this weekus horriblis is long forgotten. It’s up to Fab really to get a tune out of his squad, he either does or he doesn’t and he’ll be judged accordingly

As I commented in another thread, this is Tony Blooms doing! Since that interview we haven't won a game. Tony put the mockers on it!🙄

Well, I’m awake and I still remember the last week, so it definitely happened.

It's almost as if having a team of newbies and youngsters has made us a bit unpredictable. Which was entirely predictable.

...the last week or so didn't happen, right?

We're ninth with seven fixtures to go, many of which are "winnable" (I know, I know) and European qualification within our sight.

Agreed?
We could conceivably win all 7 🤷‍♂️

Thats how batshit crazy this whole campaign has been 😂

At work and 1st thing villa fans say to me "here he is, the Brighton bottlers" and "the sliding seagulls, sliding down the table"🙄. Although a Birmingham fan retaliated with "if you lot(villa) don't get champions league football next season you're f***ed as your losing a fortune paying huge amounts for likes of Rashford. Villa are in ffp trouble if they fail to qualify for champions league"🤣

I've already declared a no football chat at work tomorrow. Nothing to discuss until we win again.
Why not discuss how Donald Trump has single handedly crashed the world stock markets and significantly devalued your pensions in 2 days. You're a fan of his, aren't you?

MOD EDIT: A warning has been issued for this. Trump is despicable, obviously, but there is no need to attempt to take a football thread off-track in this way.

It really has been awful and worse than any other season I can remember - and that's with what I think is probably the deepest squad we've had.

To quantify just one area of the pitch: By my reckoning, we have 5 centre-backs and 5 versatile full-backs in our squad. This weekend we will be playing what is probably our 6th-choice centre-back pairing and a 19-year-old midfielder at RB due to injuries. If anything were to happen to either full-back, we'll be relying on a wide attacking player that has played a total of about 45 minutes since October 2023. Don't ask me what happens if we lose a CB!

How have Villa not been deducted points already? They've reported a cumulative loss of £200m between seasons 22-23 and 23-24. To be fair this was offset in 21-22 by selling Grealish for 100m, which gave them a huge profit for that season of, drum roll..... £400K.

Think that was what Brum fan was saying this morning, Villa could be in trouble if they fail to qualify for champions league this season.?
