Plodder won't be afforded the luxury of 2 seasons of nothing special at West Ham. That slow a learner wouldn't be tolerated anywhere else either at this level apart from at the Albion
I agree, especially as other Prem sides appear to have leapfrogged West Ham. These days you have to run to stay still, and if you're not running you're dead.

100%. He did a good job with us no doubt but always seemed to think his patient approach was deserving of the support from Bloom rather than being thankful for TB’s unique approach to managerial changes. He’d have been sacked at any other PL club.

Having a read on the West Ham forum, KUMB, Potter is getting some pelters already.
Any long term managerial appointment, Potter included, deserves a summer to get his own players in before being judged. I would be surprised if he doesn't improve them quite noticeably.

I'd also be surprised if he won them a trophy like Moyes did, mind.

Look at the squad he’s had available to him. It’s an absolute ahower of shit and I include our loanee in that.
He’s got a French international in goal, a £40m CB, a CM who was about to move to City for £80m, 2 genuinely international quality wingers in Kudus and Bowen, and Germany’s main striking option, but yeah, shit squad.

He did more with Locadia than he’s doing with West Ham’s riches.

Don't forget the PSG loanee!

Ah, now I understand why the thread is supposedly muted in Sweden.

I think their squad is pretty average, bar a few highlights out wide. But those numbers make grim reading.

Apreciate Hughton getting us promoted and keeping us up but lets face it anyone one following him is likely to look an attacking maesto. The fact is when Potter got us to an 8th finish I think only 4 sides scored less goals. He got Chelsea job because of our 8th finish and winning 3 of first 4 games following season.

It's a bit like when Hughton took over for us.
Absolutely no value in doing anything special this season.

He needs to be able to go to the ownership and say what he needs for next season.

He was also spared an awful lot of hostility from the fans due to lock down.

Unfortunately for Potter he is managing on the cusp of an new era
The Man City way doesn't work anymore
He needs to recycle himself
Let's see if he does

Potter don't care. Potter gets to commute from Hove. Potter gets to pick up another lottery winning jackpot when he inevitably next gets sacked. Such is the life of an EPL managerial mediocrity

I think 9th was his highest finish with us. We were 13th at HT on the final day of the season, but we then came from behind to beat WHU (if my memory is correct).

Where exactly were you for the second half of his final full season or the opening six games before he moved? You obviously weren't at the Amex.
I was there for every game at the Amex. The club flourished despite him, not because of him. Where exactly were you for Plodder's previous two full seasons?

Indeed.

Let’s not rewrite history - it was what it was 😉
