Got to be still on the cards. This is the last relevant article I can find, which doesn’t really say much…

It'll surely have a lot to do with how PSV's last two Champions League group games - on January 21 and January 29 - go. Could provide some drama late in the window.

Edit: Recalls what happened with Ferdi, Fenerbahce, and their Champions League qualifying campaign.

Igor's Instagram story suggesting - as far as I can tell - that he's fit again?
I'd be surprised if he is - he came back from Brazil, where he had his initial rehab a week or so ago, and he has shown videos of himself doing relatively light training back on grass.

I'm far from an expert in this stuff, but I would think it will take a few weeks to work up fitness, get back to working with the rest of the squad and get anywhere near match fit again.

But, there does seem to be a very good chance he should be available for squad selection this season, which will be great.

Not getting anywhere near the first XI from what I've heard. The new Matt Clarke
He has been sitting on the bench in each game. He is extremely close to the first eleven. Whether or not he should be is anyone's guess, but it doesn't feel very long ago we signed a lanky left footer who was absolutely nowhere near the first team and is now a League Cup winning England International who dances like a paraplegic on acid.

And wasn't he great

I just passed on info, and did we see anything that proved that info wrong?
What info? The info that you've been provided that he isn't up to standard? Or the info that, due to this, he won't make it on the pitch? He has been on the pitch so the latter claim no longer applies but the limited evidence clearly verifies the first. Given the current unavailability of alternative CBs, he may well have further chances to shift this view in the next eight games. Or Dunk might be able to play full games, Veltman might return and play at CB and Igor recover to fill in on the bench or even on the pitch when called upon.

I think reading between the lines, it's felt he's not ready for Premier League standard. I actually haven't commented personally on his abilities as before last night I hadn't seen him play, but it wasn't a great first impression.

My feeling on last night was that he was put on because Dunk is on his way back from injury, and with Villa 1-0 up it was felt they would sit deep and hence we wouldn't need to do too much defending... so having a leftie in that position would help. To be fair, he was pretty decent on the ball.

Agree with all of that, and appreciate the inside info.

And Igor Julio was roundly criticised after his debut against AEK Athens last season. Nobody was stronger in their criticism than @hans kraay fan club - players can turn around opinion from a terrible debut. Igor did.
This is true, but I don't see Cashin getting any bigger or any quicker. Someone suggested on his thread a shift to CDM. With his physique and passing maybe that's Cashin's redemption? Although probably not here given our glut of 6s.
