There's a big difference to saying someone played shit, and saying they are shit.

One is commenting on a performance of a new player - which is fine, but needs context (new player, in a new league, new team, new manager, no gametime in 2 months, stuck into the end of a game up against Rashford an incredible international player etc).

The other is fully writing off a new player after a 20 mins game and saying he's not good enough, which is reactionary bullshit that's completely unproductive.

So let's just try to make sure we're giving him a chance, before we write him off. Tony and all his experts thought he's good enough to spend a load of money on. We should give him a chance.

As debuts go though, it was a long way away, away from Bryan Wade (which was actually his best game so make of that what you will)

There's nothing wrong with judging a performance. If he was shit, it's fine to say he was shit. If you've got reservations about his transfer fee, that's fine too. Stating he's money wasted after 20 minutes of football is obviously a bit hasty, but he was shit and cost us the goal that finished the game as a contest. Its not that controversial.

The pearl clutching drips like martin tyler and singing4seagulls are best ignored if their only contribution is to cry about others forming a negative opinion on a player we paid a fair bit for.
