Imagine being so shit you've got three mortal enemies to unite and go "You know what? f*** that guy."

The United States has seen 80 years of postwar consensus destroyed in 8 weeks. It's going to take a monumental effort from the next non-headbanger president to drag America's reputation out of the mud. And that would be starting from now, never mind where we'll be by June.

Blimey... they've found an immediate common enemy. Trump is energising things that I never thought I'd see 😳.

In January 2022 I was finally persuaded to move some of my savings (not a lot, as I don't have a lot) from a cash ISA to a stocks and shares ethical ISA - to "make your money work for you" apparently.

Then Putin invaded almost the next day - and the value plummeted. It's taken 3 years to get back to something approaching parity, and I considered putting it back into a cash ISA, but didn't. Now Trump and his tariffs have had the same effect.

I won't be doing this again.

1st April tomorrow. The people at the papers whose job it is to write the annual April Fools Day story have got the challenge of their careers.
I’ve got some ideas.

1. Trump negotiates an end to the war in Ukraine
2. Trump negotiates as end to the war in Gaza
3. Trump drops all tariff threats ‘to make the world a better place’
4. Trump rules out an historic third term
5. Inflation tumbles in the US as stock markets recover and Trump’s trade strategy brings increased wealth to those that voted for him.

And one for the Daily Star:

6. Rumours of Trump’s micro-penis finally proved wrong.

Yes, it's been an unforgiving rollercoaster the past few years 😟

Buy oil.
And guns.

And when you have sorted out your civil defense you can think about how to invest what's left of your money.

Orange-utan is calling tariffs announcements Wednesday “Liberation Day”. For over a century equity investing means everything to the average American, in planning their retirement or key future family events. Unlike other Republican presidents, he’s literally damaging hopes and dreams.

Trump is also ineligible to serve as VP because to serve as VP you have to also be eligible to serve as president, which Trump isn't, so that loophole is closed
Thats not exactly right, That loophole isnt closed and it hasnt been legally tested. The election of the President and VP comes under the 12th ammendment, but its how the 12th correlates also to the 22nd ammendment, that many legal brains argue, would allow Trump to be appointed as VP, and then as VP be eligible to assume the presidency if the elected President was to resign. Some believe it would unconstitutional. It would ultimately be decided by the pro Trump supreme court and I wouldnt be as confident as you seem to be.

"

Interaction with the Twenty-second Amendment

The Twelfth Amendment explicitly states the constitutional requirements as provided for the president also apply to being vice president and the Twenty-second Amendment bars a two-term president from being elected to a third term, but it is unexplicit whether these amendments together bar any two-term president from later serving as vice president as well as from succeeding to the presidency from any point in the United States presidential line of succession.[22][23] Some contend that the Twelfth Amendment concerns qualification for service, while the Twenty-second Amendment concerns qualifications for election, and thus a former two-term president is still eligible to serve as vice president.[24] Some legal scholars propose the contention above would inadequately consider the opportunity it affords for one to serve as president more than two terms plus "[acting] as President, for more than two years," resulting in a violation of the Twenty-second Amendment.[25][26] The interaction between the two amendments has not been tested, as no twice-elected president has ever been nominated for the vice presidency."
