This is what is starting to turn the American people against Trump.
I think so. At least I hope so. Sometimes the big sweeping decisions may seem justified as a means to an end whether one is left or right wing. It's easy to turn away or overlook if it fits one's life-view. However I often think that more small-time acts of unkindness can resonate more freely. Trump and co, the way they act, even disregarding the disastrous way they operate in a global scale, are simply unkind to the average person. Even the thicker-skinned American voters have got to start realising that, because if they don't, so much more will be lost and this alarming American diminishment will continue.

I reckon Trump will do a "deal" with Putin , the Yanks allowed to annexe Greenland while Russia can annexe half of Ukraine.

Lots of criticism of America but the 3 state threats highlighted by M15 on the British govt website are from

Russia
Iran
China

There’s no mention of America.

Likewise lots of talk about right wing terrorism threats on here but that only makes up 25% of the threat according to M15.

75% of the threat is from Islamists both groups and indicted have been radicalised.

It seems lots of people like to pick & choose what they want to criticise.

But the US is supposed to be an ally. Would you expect them to be listed as one of our biggest threats? The fact it's even a talking point speaks volumes.

Who's claimed Islamist terrorism isn't a problem? 🤔

"Donald Trump said on Saturday he did not warn car industry executives against raising prices as tariffs on foreign-made autos come into force, telling NBC News he “couldn’t care less” if they do."
More profit for US car manufacturers without the need to be better and take more of the market share.

Tariffs mean only one thing. Higher prices.

Trump may be able to do a deal but he doesn't seem to understand how a free market works.

China could easily drop prices and tank the domestic US care manufacturing industry.
If I were them I would, just for shits and giggles.

Trump will have to ban foreign imports if he thinks he can fix US industry by playing hard ball.

Interesting times.

With your insincere false equivalents (USA vs Russia etc), it appears that you work in a black or white world.

But there is a ‘grey’ qualifier under the statistics you quote. It’s not a simple as raw statistics.

“But under that headline, much has shifted. Straightforward labels like “Islamist terrorism” or “extreme right wing” don’t fully reflect the dizzying range of beliefs and ideologies we see.”

Read further down the article to find the bits that should be concerning us all:

“In just the last year the number of state threat investigations we’re running has shot up by 48%…..we’re also seeing Putin’s henchmen seeking to strike elsewhere, in the misguided hope of weakening Western resolve……Over 750 Russian diplomats have been expelled from Europe since Putin invaded, the great majority of them spies. This goes well beyond all historical precedent….”

I wonder, just wonder if it has crossed that prick's mind just once that if whacking tariffs on imports can help
boost the economy, why every country isn't doing and hasn't being doing it full throttle?
De Niro gave the best answer: "He's a f******g moron".

His attitude toward global trade is basically mercantilist - the idea that the health of a country's trade is improved when its income from exports exceeds its expenditure on imports. Best illustrated by his comments about trade with the EU and how they've "treated us very unfairly" by "refusing" to buy American cars. It views trade as finite and fixed so, increasing trade inherently meant taking that away from another country.

Mercantilism is protectionist and has a heavy reliance on tariffs. Britain used to operate a mercantilist system, as did most of Europe. It encourages imperialism because it encouraged control of natural resources (also sounding familiar) rather than importing them through trade.

Essentially, he has a very outdated view of global trade. He is not a free marketeer at all, whether he understands it properly or not. And this is nothing new - here he is interviewed by Larry King in 1987, where he complains in similar vein about Japan and Saudi Arabia and how "the country is being ripped off". You'll also hear shades of his current attitude towards the aid to Ukraine - "they should pay for that" protection.

Is he so angry he's going to slap some big, beautiful tarrifs on Russia, the greatest tarrifs you've ever seen, these tarrifs are so beautiful they're going create trillions of American jobs for American workmen and women, don't forget the women, some American women can do great jobs too, sometimes nearly as great as our men.....etc
