The ambition was probably always that Cashin would play as little as possible this season, serving as an injury crisis backup while we take a look to see if he's ready or if he needs a year in Bundesliga or Ligue 1 or something. He's a Championship talented that would have costed £5m less if he was right-footed.

Don't think we can read too much into him not playing yet. Sure, if he had been SUPER impressive in training we might have seen him a few minutes here and there... but in pretty much every game its not a sub we've felt we could afford playing around with.
‘Playing around’ is exactly what a Cashin substitution would have been in the last two months.

I’m really pleased that FH has not gone to a back 3 to fit Cashin in or taken Pervis off to get him some minutes at left back.

But, we have no evidence that he’d not perform well if Dunk limps off on Wednesday and he takes up the reigns next to JPvH.

The worry with Webster is that he’s redone an old one. Was at the opposite end to us so really didn’t have a good view of what he’d done though.

The amateur doctor in me is optimistic about that one... ankle sprain without need to be carried off... hurts like hell but often no massive damage.. 2-3 weeks.
I really hope you’re right - I’m not convinced that the fact he went to hospital by ambulance after the game supports this though 😕

It's not like us normal folk going to the hospital though.
We could have exactly the same injury and the advice would be take a couple of paracetamol RICE and see how it is in a couple of days.
Being an elite footballer / valuable asset means let's get an MRI right now and see exactly what we're looking at.

Would they have to wait for any swelling to go down before an MRI? Genuine question.

They always wait 24-48h with knee injuries. No idea about ankles etc.

No idea. Depends what they’re looking for I guess. I once had an MRI to see if there was any swelling, was in my back though. The bandage on Ritter’s leg was on his knee.

Looked to me like a reaction after his acrobatic clearance off the line but I could easily be wrong as I didn’t keep watching, but he went down around that time,

He crumpled near the centre circle Either turned wrong or studs got caught From the view I had
Thought it was the knee initially but he was holding his ankle
soon afterwards Fingers crossed not serious and back soon
Fabulous player and attitude Get fit soon Giorgi

I really did not understand why Webster was asked to play on for five minutes in midfield/up top when he could barely run and we still had a chance to win it in normal time, and Dunk was sitting on the bench.

That alone makes me think it can’t have been too serious. Never seen anything like it with a sub still available.

We’d used our sub windows I believe, so had to wait to full-time

We’d used all 3 permitted subs windows, so no choice but to wait until extra time when another window became available.

Well it sounds like Webster’s season is probably over.

Since returning for the second half of the Chelsea FA Cup game, he played around 700 minutes of football and we only conceded 5 goals (2 of which were penalties, though one was his fault, and 2 screamers). I think it’s fair to say if he had the form he’s been in for over 30+ league games he’d be looking at player of the season shouts. Unfortunately, the question mark about his ability to stay fit is now even larger. Possibly to the point where we cannot reliably see him a starter in a strongest back four.

The consequence of this surely being that we have to sign a very good centre half this summer. Especially given Dunk’s age and dip in fitness/form this season. Hopefully he finishes the season strong, but even so, a new centre back must be high on the priority list. Keeping hold of Van Hecke just as high on that list, too.

Isn’t it hat why we signed Cashin?
