.... Still wouldn't be surprised to see one traded away before, or early into, the season - possibly Jordan Montgomery.

....
Turns out Montgomery will have to undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss the entire 2025 season.

Unfortunate for him, and unfortunately he will go down in D'backs history as one of their worst-ever signings. Having helped the Rangers beat the D'backs in the 2023 World Series, the Snakes signed him to a one-year $25million deal in 2024 with a vesting player option for $20million for 2025. He was awful in 2024 and would have had the worst ERA of all qualifying starting pitchers if he hadn't missed some time through injury. So, a grand total of $45million for one crap season.

Was reading a couple of days ago that the White Sox already have SIX pitchers needing to undergo Tommy John surgery. WTF is going on?!?

Heading off to Chase Field in 3 hours or so to take in Opening Day with the D'backs coming up against the Cubs. Should be a sell-out (or very close to, unfortunately with lots of Cubs fans I'm sure); lots of pageantry, a fly-over etc etc. Hope Gallen and his teammates can get the season off on the right foot.

Play ball!

10th inning collapse for the Nats throwing away a great opening day for Mackenzie Gore. Harper and Schwarber twisting the returning player knife tonight. I’m not happy

At least you get a full stadium for Opening Day. I don't think the White Sox sold out. 31,403 was attendance.

Blue Jays absolutely SPANKED by the Orioles. New season, same shit.
It could have been worse if Gunnar Henderson had been in the O's line-up.

The AL East will be brutal this season - a lot of talent in that division.

I watched a chunk of the Tigers / Yankees opener and have to say the Yankees were very lucky to win, with the Tigers 0 for 15 with Runners In Scoring Position, leaving 11 on base.

Happy with that. Looked to be struggling a bit until Sheets hit one over the center-field fence to kick start things in the 7th.
It was looking good for the Braves until the Bullpen came in. Neris was not ready. Hopefully the Braves can get that sorted out.

Catching up on Discovery+.... ridiculous from The Yankees & Aaron Judge against the Brewers... First team ever in MLB to hit first 3 pitches for Home Runs, and Judge with 3 HR and 8 RBI.
