Brighton factually.....
Also doesn't help that they pledge allegiance to the fecking flag every bloody day of their school/summer camp/where ever life, and sing the national anthem at any given opportunity. Indoctrinated from birth into America First culture
True, that...

I have been to a few sporting events in the USA and the worst was baseball in Detroit against the Yankees...
national anthem comes on, everyone stood up, hand over heart and sang the national anthem....

Not me, I stood out of respect, but the glares I got for not putting my hand over my heart and belting out the national anthem, if looks could kill. The father in law had to tell folks around us "Sorry, He is British, he does not understand"

Imagine sinigang the national anthem before every football game over here, not gonna happen is it.

We did a Mets game, 2 years ago and they played the anthem at the start and half way through all very bizarre.

One or two high ranking military leaders have pointed out, they pledge allegiance to the Constitution, not the President.

Wishful thinking perhaps but I tend to agree..i look forward to day he chokes on his last burger. Then again Vance and co in total charge could well be even worse
I think you’re right about the potential for unfettered lunacy but wonder whether Vance and the rest of the abhorrent crew have the charisma to carry the nation along with them. Trump, bizarrely, has the dangerous ability to soften the appearance of the extremism, perhaps because people don’t take him entirely seriously. Without him, they’re very visibly a bunch of nasty bastards which might be too much for the majority of voters. Mind you, as they control the legal structure, the police, the military and have no respect for the rule of law or democracy, who knows what might happen in the next few years?

Yes, populist politicians initially attract support from poorer, angry, citizens, demonising and targetting minorities, such as immigrants, welfare 'scroungers', intellectuals, etc.

But this does not solve the underlying problems which lead people to vote for the populists like Trump (and Farage over here) - the poverty wages, chronic job insecurity, inadequate public services, unaffordable housing, and increasing inequality, still remain.

So the populist leaders have to look for new 'enemies' to blame, and against whom growing public anger and impatience can be directed; "these people are why our clamp-downs and deportations haven't delivered milk-and-honey."

Until the populists start persecuting the very people - apart from the mega-rich savouring their tax cuts, of course - who initially voted for them.

Populist political leaders who love being awful and brutal towards asylum seekers, immigrants, Muslims and/or Jews, usually have few qualms, a little later, about being awful to 'enemies within', such as ordinary workers, trade unions, the unemployed, critical journalists, peaceful-protestors, single parents, students.

Hence many of those who are currently cheering Trump's aggressive treatment of immigrants, civil servants, and educationalists, will almost certainly find themselves being targeted within a year or two - they'll find out that he does not genuinely care about them, and feels absolutely no sense of loyalty to them for their current support.
By then it will be too late for them.

A friend of a work colleague has just returned from Washington, and they were saying how genuinely shocked they were at how many people are still walking around the capital with red MAGA or TRUMP caps on...including young kids barely out of nappies. These people really have been sucked in to a very disturbing, dangerous cult.

Waltz suggesting that Goldberg could have deliberately joined the signal group before then trotting out the usual insults.
He appears to be a couple of bullets short of a full clip.
That’s a bigger security risk than if he had been invited. Imagine everyone being able to join such a group as they liked

Goldberg got sick of the Trump administration calling him a liar so he published the entire group exchange.

The White House response;

“He’s a Trump hater”

What a f***ing shit show.

More questioning at 1400 GMT. Time for the popcorn...

It is quite staggering it is now all being dismissed as a hoax. wtf? They have literally published the full exchange and if it is all made up then given it is about war plans then that could be treason right? The other defence that none of this is classified is laughable. What counts as classified if military attacks don’t ?
