Firstly, if in the age of AI female pundits were given a male body and voice I wonder if the views would be singling them out more than men.
Sadly, and predictably, the prejudice is entirely against women and nothing to do with expertise

Westminster Magistrates court -Found guilty of assaulting his wife.

Barton, who was the manager of Bristol Rovers at the time, was given a 12-week suspended prison sentence.

Seems light.
Is wife beating no biggie again?

It would appear that she decided not to support the prosecution, after initially making a statement giving a full account. That may have been a factor in sentencing.

Sadly, that's pretty common for victims of domestic violence, largely due to the offender behaviour eroding every last shred of confidence or independence they have. The average high risk victim (ie at risk of serious harm or murder) lives with it for two and a half years before getting help*. Statistically, two women every week are killed by a partner or ex partner in England & Wales. EVERY WEEK.

I don’t understand why this women, who has several kids with him, got together with him in first place. He has lots of publicised previous, from before they met surely?

Mrs. Merton: [to the lovely Debbie McGee] But what first, Debbie, attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?

Already covered on post 637. Another one victim blaming.
Nonsense.
Two things are possible at the same time:
1 Joey Barton’s wealth likely made him a more attractive proposition to his wife. (guessing it wasn’t his charm)
2 Joey Barton being violent towards her is totally unacceptable

Men who are abusive are quite often charming. I know from experience.

Interesting that the DPP were determined to see this through and successfully did, without the victim being on their side. Whilst they threw in the towel with the Greenwood case despite damning evidence.

The point I was trying to make when you accused me of “victim blaming” was that Barton has always been a violent thug therefore it cannot have been a surprise to her when he turned out to be in fact a violent thug.
