I've been thumbing away at @Simster and @Triggaaar. Ooh err.

Trump and Johnson are/were as far as removed from suitability for high office as anyone. Trump is a nasty piece of work, bringing bullying business strategies to statespersonship, whereas Johnson was reckless, making it up as he went along. Both disastrous by different reasons.
And the narcissism, oh the narcissism!

Any country that buys oil or gas from Venezuela will have 25% tariffs slapped on them from 2 April.

Countries that buy oil or gas from Venezuela?
  • USA (yes)
  • China
  • India
  • Spain
  • Italy
  • Cuba
  • Brazil
  • Turkey
  • Singapore
  • Vietnam
Some of which are quite likely to switch to buying Russian Crude instead.

Fancy that.

ITN take was interesting and disturbing. The texts are very scathing about Europe, demonstrating these narcissists genuinely believe the stuff they’re spouting - it’s not some bargaining strategy. On that basis, Europe really needs to pay attention to what they say and not dismiss, for instance, the notion of Trump annexing Greenland as some mad fantasy.

Changing the subject slightly, went round my mates house last night to wish them well on their 2 weeks in Florida, been saving for years 2 teenage kids wanted to see all the usual stuff 4K spending money.

Family sat down on Sunday to discuss and voted 4 to 0 to cancel because of what’s happening over there, they are losing £500 on the holiday and £300 on kennels for the dog.

Kids really pissed off with the whole USA and my Tory voting mate doesn’t want any thing to do with Americans.

I just wonder how much the tourist industry over there is going to feel the pain?

Tory voting mate you say? That’s about as welcome on here as being a Palace fan

Being serious, I’d suggest tourism from Europe and Canada will be badly hit. Doubt Trump gives a shit though, in fact he’ll probably twist it into a big positive.

I don’t thing he gives a shit. But where it will notice is the drop in trade with business owners. I like to think they will start to question why sales have dropped since he got in.

And that is the crux of the matter. The US is all about the ‘American dream’ which how poor people make good and everyone lives happily ever after. That’s not going to happen if the markets are going to rat shit, defence companies lose market share and influence, lower exports and tourist industry severely hit.
For instance International Trade Administration states that ‘The travel and tourism industry contributed $2.3 trillion to the U.S. economy in 2022 (2.97 percent of the country's GDP), supporting 9.5 million jobs’.

35% (about $83 billion) of all US defence industry exports went to Europe between 20-24 … cancelling of those orders is going to hurt big time.

its a matter of time before the affected start hammering on the White House door demanding change ….

Meanwhile there’s nothing like an unflattering portrait to send a serial narcissist into meltdown 😂

“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before. The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older. In any event, I would much prefer not having a picture than having this one, but many people from Colorado have called and written to complain. In fact, they are actually angry about it! I am speaking on their behalf to the Radical Left Governor, Jared Polis, who is extremely weak on Crime, in particular with respect to Tren de Aragua, which practically took over Aurora (Don’t worry, we saved it!), to take it down. Jared should be ashamed of himself!”
