The club were correct in finally getting to grips with this in a concerted manner. The swathes of empty seats in the lower tiers had become a joke at almost every home game and had absolutely nothing to do with old guessed excuses such as it’s the school holidays. Possibly/probably folk who hold onto their ST’s for dear life and can easily afford the sunk cost when very rarely attending, who can’t be arsed in giving a minute of their time using the exchange to give someone else a chance. At some games this season in the NS eg Bmuff we’ve had ten empty seats next to us, several directly in front.
Ha! Yes, it used to frustrate me back when I felt motivated to bring my kids to a game and I’d spend ages searching for “3 together” but usually to no avail.

Then I’d watch the highlights on MOTD later that night and see swathes of empty blue seats. So in the end I just thought ‘f*** it’ and let the memberships lapse and we do other stuff instead now.

I, as often agree with you. Here though they are wrong. One the attendance is wrong but also a deadline to complete the survey.

Look at those that often don't appear but also easily done, look at the history.

They’re all part of the problem….all lead to unnecessarily empty seats. The numbers not attending due to a last-minute crisis, on a regular basis, will be relatively miniscule.

Don't disagree but its all about focus hence the numbers will tell them where their main issue lies, indeed it might be that most people don't miss half the season they miss 3 games and don't put them on Exchange is the biggest category/problem. I don't have a problem with the general concept of what the club is doing just think it can treat people a bit better than standard letters after all we are all customers....

Maybe it's not those who complain that "football is too expensive" that aren't "bothering to try to resell their ticket when they can't attend".

Maybe some look at it from their own point of view on the day. Is it too cold/wet/windy, feeling a bit down, genuine emergency or just don't feel like it.
But if that is the case, and these people are having this happen 4-5 times a season, then why are they buying a season ticket? And why would the club want to sell them one if there are people that will buy them who will commit to going to every game?

This has been discussed to death previously, but I’ll respond again. 4 or 5 times a season? Unlikely I’d say.
It would seem in the case quoted by Piltdown Man it was twice.

I have no issue with the club wanting to maximise its income , most businesses want to but you don't do that by pissing off your customers.

No, it isn't unlikely. When you get old, or for that matter if you have a chronic illness, it is perfectly likely that you don't know on Friday if you will be fit to attend the match on Saturday.

If the club (any club) is asking for details of the illness or condition, it's a step too far. At the very least "I couldn't come for medical reasons" or "personal reasons" ought to be all they are entitled to know - albeit that would defeat the object of the crackdown.

From NEXT season the club are asking you “utilise” your ticket (list or attend) 75% of the time. I think they calculate this by the time of renewal - so March 2026.
So that’s 4 games across a season I’d say. 5 would be slightly more than 75%.

The terms also say if you have justification / (presumably illness) and evidence as to why non attendance then the sanction (no renewal) might be avoided

Probably bought them years ago, 2016 or prior to that, these days can only be bothered to go to the LFC/Manu/Arse games, are fine for money … a few £100 a year ‘worth it’. Determined not to make the terminal decision in relinquishing the prized ST.

“This means you can attend, list for resale, share or upgrade your ticket but you cannot leave your seat empty for five or more matches”.

Appears very fair.
