Towards the end of the game, the Allstars might have had more than 11 players on the pitch!

That was great fun. Well done Brett, and Joe Wilkinson.

Baz Savage…wow. I remember loving him, but he was Messi-like.

Joe Marler is a future national treasure. Love him, just a brilliant entertainer - and I don’t even like rugby.

Seriously, as good an afternoon’s entertainment as you are ever likely to have, and for such a good cause.

Great day out for a brilliant cause.

My old dear text me and asked how it was going at one point and I had to explain that Jon Richardson had just mocked Bas Savage’s (sign him up btw - what a player) moonwalk which he’d done after he scored for a penalty given away Joe Marler. Great fun.

Only bit of constructive criticism I’d give if anybody involved in the running of the event reads this - would it be possible at any future events for the Brighton XI to have names on the back of their shirts too? Half the players were before my time and apart from Bas Savage I struggled to recognise anybody. Tommy Fraser wasn’t even ginger ffs! It’s not a massive thing, but would have definitely elevated the day for me slightly, and I’m sure the shirts with names on the back would have raised a few quid for charity if auctioned off after the game.

That was the best charity football match I have ever attended. The game was great fun to watch, some quite good football, some brilliant pantomime and a wonderful spirit. Also great to see so many friends there which added to the sense of community at the game. I am delighted for Brett who put together a wonderful afternoon and raised a ridiculous amount of cash for the Rockinghorse Appeal, congratulations mate that was fantastic.

Great afternoon with Bas really enjoying himself. I was surprised how long Warren lasted as long as he did, I think he only went off after tweaking his knee. To be honest, I didn’t recognise a lot of the Albion team and assume there was an issue with shirts which is why they seemed to be wearing T-shirts.

Ultimately, great job by Brett and all in raising a great sum for the charity.

That’s the only negative, Worthing would have had a kit knocking about, wouldn’t have done them any harm to have lent it to the Albion team.

I believe that - unintentionally keeping with the Withdean era nostalgia of the day - there was an issue with a kit clash, which is also why the Albion side were delayed coming out for the warm-up pre-match. As you say, did make it hard to pick a lot of the players out, but guess only so much that could be done at short notice.

On the afternoon itself, a wonderful time had and great to see so much raised for a superb cause. Incredibly fun game to watch and as @Hotchilidog says, sets the bar high for other charity matches. Hats off to Brett for putting that on, along with everyone that volunteered their time to helping on the day!

Highlights for me: Bas Savage still being an absolute baller and getting to see the moonwalk after his goal. Joe Marler was an absolute delight, from being determined to clatter people off the ball in the most entertaining way, to the rivalry he quickly developed with Bas - the high point being when he was subbed back on during the second half and you could hear him shout "Baaaaaas" as he was coming on 😂 Also Mark Ormerod not only putting in a great shift in goal, but also rattling the bar with a peach of a volley from outside the box when he played outfield later in the game!

I hadn’t realised it was Ormerod who rattled the cross bar. It was a cracking shot!!
