[Travel] Holiday suggestions Marrakesh or Athens.....

I booked myself a spur of the moment trip to Marrakech and I am running out of time for research. I fly first thing on Monday and I’m going on my todd to mark finding a job after redundancy.

Any recommendations welcome, specifically

- food/drink to try
- restaurants (nothing fancy, I’m on my Todd)
- good hammam’s. Authentic ones please.
- anything souk/medina related
- getting around
- watching the football with the locals. They have a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday but in Casablanca. Anyone got any tips on where to watch like a local?

I've been to Morocco 3 times, 2000, 2010 and 2018 if memory serves. Marrakesh changed a hell of a lot from 2000 to 2010 (just in terms of pollution and tourism) and I wouldn't go back there. Last trip was Fez and Chefchaouen, had a great time in both and less touristic. Athens for a weekend in 2001 was fun and a lot of decent areas around it to visit. But I'd still go back to Morocco, despite prices rising. If you like shopping Morocco is superb, if not cheap. You've got to like the food aswell, which I did. Then again Greek food is also great.

Similar … we loved Marrakech in 2007 and 2009. Went back in 2017 and felt it had changed. Can’t put my finger on what exactly - but we agreed our third visit was our last.

As requested, BHA towel in Marrakesh today. Not at a game (will be watching tonight’s CAF WC qualifier in the hotel, they have a huge projection screen), also sadly not in thé square with the snake charmers, in case the cobras support CPFC
