I think he's a certainty to be in the next squad, if he can stay fit, and I think he's got every chance of getting himself a Cap in the next International window. He's an incredible footballer and at his age, surely one of the very best in the world.

No chance despite me agreeing with your second sentence wholeheartedly.

Whilst he is fabulous and one of the best in the world for his age group, the England side is packed with quality CMs. Tuchel only really plays with 2 of those and that will be Rice and Bellingham with one of Palmer/Foden/Rogers/MGW/Eze playing as a CAM. If he decides to play Bellingham as the CAM then Gallagher (who is having a revival season at Atleti), Curtis Jones, Mainoo or Wharton will all be selected ahead of Jack.

It's a shame but he'll be an important part of the U21 squad as they compete in the U21 Euros in the summer and that's his best pathway to the national team. He'll be there in the next five years, if he remains injury free.

Wharton has just come back from injury and I would say on current form, Jack should be given a chance over Mainoo. I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that he sneaks in as he also provides cover at full back too.

That’s what will keep him with us for a while yet. Along with the fact he’s not lightning quick.

Though I have to say after watching his highlight reel from Newcastle you could probably put him down as ‘great’ with his heading ability, especially when you factor in his headed goals.

Gallagher's a pitbull attack dog - great recruitment from Atletico. They have a style and identified an ideal midfielder for them.

But Hinshelwood's potentially a top class footballer. I think his ability and proven experience at full back as well as CM means he'll be a big player under Tuchel who loves that type of player. I think Hinshelwood is our most exciting young player ever to come through the academy. Dunk has been incredible, a top class International standard CB and was top class very early on. But Hinshelwood is a very different talent.

Agreed, but at the elite level in Jack’s positions you often need both, which is why Pascal Gross played nearly 250 games for us and not for one of the really big boys.

He's played for Germany and now Dortmund - pretty near the top of the pile. Part of Gross's problem was playing for Brighton which was the same for Dunk and might be the same for Jack. Personally I was quite happy that neither Gross nor Dunk played a lot internationally as it might have meant an early departure from Brighton , so to be honest i am happy that Jack doesn't get the call.

Yep and Hinshelwood’s ceiling should be higher than Gross’s, but it doesn’t detract from my point that the reason we’ll be able to keep him for longer than some might expect is because the elite level clubs will be weary of his lack of pace (he’s not slow - just not rapid). After several seasons of him proving that he can compete at a high level without being as quick as a Baleba, for example, then bigger clubs will be more likely to turn their attention to him.

Don't disagree about his pace and to be honest if that puts the big boys off then great .

Watching the Europa League footy tonight and flicking between games. Tottenham are bloody awful at AZ, but people have waxed lyrical about the youngster Bergvall as an up and coming. He seems to be playing in the role Hinsh has played alongside Baleba sometimes, but he's not a patch on how composed Jack is in games. Really illustrates how far he's come over the past season and only 19 still. If he'd been at City, United, Arsenal et al, you'd think Tuchel would seriously consider him for the England squad.

Probably not much to say. Jack was on for less than 15 mins against France in a friendly where they lost 5-2 so not time or a Carsley side where he could make much impression. Beadle didn’t have one of his best days either.

Rayan Cherki who I still think we should have signed from Lyon last season, was inspirational against the England side.

It was 5-3. Beadle could have done better on a couple of the goals, especially the fifth, but the defence regularly parted like the Red Sea in front of him!
