My wife has just received a Jury Service letter requiring her to serve from May12th for at least 10 days.
Usually, this would have been no problem, but she is waiting for an important operation, date as yet unknown, but she has her pre op appointment in about 10 days time, so it may not be long after that. However, that cannot be guaranteed. I know she can reply on the form and request a postponement and give alternative dates, but even this is tricky as she cannot be sure when the hospital may call her. Could be sooner or later.
Has anyone had experience of this kind of thing and any thoughts or advice would be gratefully received.
Cheers!
You could ask the court to WhatsApp a photo over of the defendant, she can then message her verdict back once she’s had a look? Technology is available, why not use it?

Would’ve worked for one the cases I did. First meeting in the jury room after we’d listened to the charges etc one of the jurors said ‘well he’s definitely guilty, you only need to look at him to know that’ :lolol:

He was

I quite enjoyed jury service but some of my fellow jurors would happily have strung the defendants up, even though they were obviously innocent of what they were accused of.

Doesn’t coming across as a racist homophobe not seem a good way to avoid being chosen for the jury?

Ring the court and explain this to them?

I’m not sure what other sort of answer you were looking for on here?

Pray to Allah?

Send a message in a bottle?

A coded message in the crossword of The Times?

Hi Clamp,
I wasn’t really looking for a clear cut answer, but rather seeking out if any others on here had been in a similar situation and how they fared when ringing the court, which my wife will be doing on Monday, having only received the letter on Friday. It often does no harm to consult the sages on NSC about various matters and is sometimes quite helpful.
As for Allah, the bottle and The Times, I think we’ll give them a miss.😉👍

Oh you poor bastard.

I spent a year on the Victory 🤦🏻‍♂️ and lived on board at Nelson for a few weeks. The Nelson main gate staff were the unhappiest matelots I’d ever come across.

I was being facetious and I came across as a bit of a nob. Apologies

The only benefit was a never ending supply of ladies who would want a meet up at the ‘Mucky’ no mobile phones in those days 😂😂
