They're debating on the radio about how OK that was.

If it was OK then that's okay. But if it was merely ok then idk.

Sorta sums England up

I thought we looked much better, not the finished article but more forward thinking and faster than we have been. England are no Brighton, but that was a step in the right direction. Foden not great but to my shock and horror, Rice not totally useless.

On my way back now from Wembley.

6.5/10 - never looked like not winning the game, but could've done a lot more with all that possession.

1st goal saw a perfectly measured sliderule pass through. And Kane is still proving that he's as clinical a finisher as any striker.

Both Foden and Rashford have shown that they shouldn't be starting on Monday.

Thousands of Albanians in the England supporters section - no wonder it was sold out. Latvia on Monday won't be anywhere near as busy.

Still, it's 3 points, a clean sheet and 2 more loyalty caps towards next year's World Cup tickets. And I had the pleasure of ending up next to 2 passionate Albion fans, so it all worked out well. 🙂

Going to increasingly be the story of modern football. Team with good players dominate the ball, team with not as good players sit back in organised shape and desperately hope for a set piece or something on the break. Think that game would have gone the same with Potter, De Zerbi or Southgate in charge.

Luckily teams with good players sometimes have individual moments of brilliance. So it was with Bellingham’s pass and Kane’s finish.

Premier League will be the same soon enough. This season we’ve got Southampton playing good football with bad players and Forest playing bad football with good players, but as poor teams come up there’ll be less of that.

I didn’t watch the game, but I have seen the comments in today’s press that “Tuchel asks for Foden and Rashford to contribute more”.

Well, they’ve been badly out of form for their clubs, Foden barely playing, Rashford shipped out from Utd, so - what were you expecting, really?

Indeed. When the opposition puts all 10 outfield players behind the ball from the start, it's a case of finding a way to unlock them. It only took 20 minutes.

With every other side in England's group now looking like they'll set up this way, it's not hard to see that the best way for England to play these qualifiers is committing to being further up the pitch to maximize these unlocking opportunities and as wide as possible to maximise the space to play in.

Foden frequently cutting in last night only brought him into traffic with a 2nd and 3rd defender rather than just the one had he stayed out wide. Gordon's the sort of pacy touchline-hugging wide player who could flourish here - I really hope he starts on Monday.

Just the two Albion players in international action today by my count: Ayari for Sweden against Luxembourg at 5 pm and Sima for Senegal against Sudan at 7 pm.

Find it so hard unless it is Albion to get interested in football international and club when at group stages. Nearly always set up with 2 strong and 2 weak sides and almost certain who will get through. Cant beat watching games that realy mean something and that does not come until last 16
Thank goodness for our FA cup where weaker sides play off against each other to earn the right to compete against big sides

Yes, just read that. Hip issue apparently according to Tuchel.

Sad to see him miss out on Monday, especially as he only came on with the game won.

Sima benched. Ayari on at halftime but Sweden still 1-0 down to Luxembourg with about 15 minutes left on the clock.

I saw the game last night. Albania can play, unlike the team of old, and sat deep. What resulted was a routine 2-0 win. The problem is that the qualifiers tell us little. Unless they go badly. It's the same for any team expected to progress because of the way sides set up against them.

The task is just to qualify. It's only at a tournament that we discover if there is prospects.

Top and brave decision by the ref in the Wales game. Yes, the Kazak player did put his studs in late, but Roberts was going down and there really wasn't any force. It's a yellow. Common sense prevailed, even after being called to the monitor. Excellent refereeing.
