A long read but gives insight into the savagery of the Ice and detention system. It alos talks about the companies being privately owned and making money out of incarcerating people. Disgusting.

This is just incredible. US immigration have mostly been obnoxious arrogant bullies for years, treat everyone like shit, especially if you are black. What this woman and the others she was incarcerated with went through is something out of a Russian gulag. Trump has given them free reign to behave how they want and make lots of money doing it. Unbelievable.

A heartbreaking & horrific article.

I have always loved visiting the USA...its such a beautiful country, but I have zero inclination to go back while this awful administration is in power.
I've only been a couple of times but what a country. Always appreciated the people when I have meet them. Wonderful positive and friendly people.

But they have royally f***ed up this time.

It hasn't taken much to free ICE up to show their true colours has it?

A lot that has happened in the past 10 years or so both in the UK and even more starkly the US has shown that on a lot of communities/ jobs the appearance of civility was just a superficial veneer and it doesn't take much to strip that away and reveal people as they truly are.

Given that people arriving in the States are now being detained if they’ve criticised Trump in the past, probably best for everyone on this thread (except Spence and the Dingo) to avoid going for the next few years

Agree. We got married out there, had a family home in Florida for years, and our kids spent pretty much every other summer out there growing up. Spent a load of time touring the West coast as well over the years, which is just stunning.

Never had a problem with the people out there, and its always been incredibly friendly, but while the orange toddler is in charge of things, Im very wary of going anywhere near it.

As I've mentioned before, the Bobkin Jnr boys and I are off to NYC at the end of June. Or, if anyone looks at my posts on NSC about Trump, maybe they'll be going on their own...

Trump: FREE SPEECH FOR EVERYONE
Trump (when the free speech is criticism of him): NO, NOT LIKE THAT!

What an insufferable, thin-skinned, needy bellend.

Krasnov will want to keep things relatively sane in the US until after the World Cup where he can get massive narcissistic supply and act like the golden god emperor of all.

Once that is out of the way with mid-term elections months away is when things will get really ugly.

He’s a top bloke, isn’t he, this Trump chap;

Breaking news:

  • Donald Trump has signed an executive order that will "begin eliminating" thefederal Department of Education (DoE)
  • Trump says that "this is the right thing to do", adding that the DoE will be shut "as quickly as possible"
  • The DoE is in charge of administering federal student loans for college and university students, offering assistance for low-income students and providing funding for schools to offer certain programmes to disabled students

I assume that eliminating the education department is so all Americans can be as thick as him and those that voted for him?

He'll probably try and bin them off, if the downward trend continues!

He clearly doesn't have very high expectations for his son if he thinks he is over-achieving by turning a laptop on! My grandson can do that and he is three!
My mum can do that and she’s a true technophobe. Twenty years ago when we bought her first mobile (a Nokia 3210), she told me she was “frightened”. She was 47 years old. Same again when we replaced her dying laptop a few months ago.

Donald Trump is worse at technology than my mum. My mum stays at home with her dogs and does a bit of knitting. Donald Trump has nuclear keys.

Remember when Trump said he had no idea what Project 2025 was? Seems odd considering abolishing the DoE was in it.

This article is a bit old now but for someone who claims to know nothing about it he sure is enacting a lot of it

With a view to getting it all in place before the 2028 Olympics?
