Assumed the fact it’s a Sussex derby, on a bank holiday, one of the last games of the season & currently 1st v 3rd would mean it was guaranteed segregation.

Happy to be wrong though, 3 tickets purchased and a few more of my group grabbing some later today. Wouldn’t be surprised to see close to (if not over) 1000 Worthing fans making the journey if tickets are snapped up quick enough.

Could be some serious egg on face for Eastbourne if they’re still in the fight for top spot by then. A promotion 6 pointer and 1/3 of the crowd are away fans…
Are they away fans specific? I don't know how it is these days as I only go to one game a year (due to distance and I'd rather watch Albion if I'm home) but in all the years I used to go I only saw segregation perhaps 10-15 times when they were in the Conference. Perhaps if Worthing do sell 600/700 it's a different story.

In fairness, the last time the fixture was segregated at Priory Lane, was an understandable tit-for-tat measure because we'd segregated them for a game.

After the issues caused by a group of Dover fans on the opening day of the 2022/23 season, Worthing chose to test segregation measures at the home game against Borough on the August Bank Holiday Monday. So their segregation of us was understandable with that context.

The fixture hasn't justified segregation since, but if they were going to for a game based on numbers, I'd have understood if they had for this upcoming one.

Also a little surprised there wasn't at least a home/away option for buying tickets (as we offer) in case they wanted to segregate at a later point. As you say, we will absolutely bring numbers for that game given what could be at stake. Wouldn't want to put too high a number on it - there is a fair amount of the Woodside crowd who probably wouldn't even travel as far as Lancing to a game because it's not right on their doorstep in the town. Maybe that's just my scepticism from remembering the days when 400-500 was considered a good Saturday crowd, I'd loved to be proven wrong and we truly take over Priory Lane for the day!

Given my voice was almost gone from the singing near the end game, it wasn't quiet from where I was stood 😂

Missing a few voices who'd usually add to the numbers for that game. Definitely can be quieter when attacking the Elmo's End, but was constant singing in the Shed End in the second half - which is where 99% of the chanting & noise has always come from during a game, not in the new North Stand. So maybe one of our off-days at points, but definitely were making a good noise for most of the second half. If your expectation was that the new stand is where you'd hear much going on in terms of constant chanting etc (apologies if I've read that wrong), then that won't ever be the case.

I’m probably being a little bit too optimistic, but I think that’s down to my first away day with Worthing being the Lewes game in 2022 where we must have taken 500+! The clubs only grown since then, the stakes could be much higher and it’s a relatively similar journey (until you get off the train at least). There’s definitely the potential for a mammoth away following, fingers crossed the stars align.

Nope, not away specific at all.

Seems crazy to me but I’m far from an expert. There’s a decent chance it’ll be 1st v 2nd with only two fixtures left after that; even if you look at it as not wanting to squander any kind of home advantage with the atmosphere it seems a strange move to have no way of limiting away fans now.

Albion U21s in the Sussex Senior Cup semis tonight at Culver Road, Lancing, v Horsham.
Likely to be a bit depleted given the international break.
7.30 KO, £12 on the gate (£8 concessions).
Anybody going?

Understandable, and a fair point about the growth. Won't be at Welling as going with friends I go to Albion with to the Rockinghorse Charity game at Woodside that day (mainly because Bas Savage) but the numbers who travel to that could be telling for how many more could end up at Eastbourne.

Lot of fond memories from that day at Lewes, including our much missed commentator Pete Vale doing the second half commentary alongside us on the terrace behind the goal. If we go on to win the league, it'll be for him and all the Rebels we've lost in recent years!

Non League (although they are actual leagues, I never get that description) Day Saturday.

Where is everyone going ?

Think my and the daughter might take in Lewes, she has never been to that ground and has the bug now for "non league" football after taking in Worthing last weekend and previously Whitehawk early this year.

We are keen to pin a flag on a local team, but I am having trouble picking one.

Whitehawk, the ground is a bit a shambles with that scaffolding, the cow bells or whatever are annoying.
Worthing, really like the ground, the crowd were a little quite for a promotion pushing team, despite what some say.
Lewes, quirky ground, just something not quite right, I can't put my finger on it.

I just do not seem to connect with any of them, nothing will replace the Albion and maybe I am expecting too much and should take them for what they are and just enjoy the football. I think I may take in a few grounds further a field, what is Hastings like ?

Haywards Heath Town for me tomorrow.

Interesting what you say about not connecting with any of them, I know what you mean. I can walk to Haywards Heath Town and I go fairly regularly, but I've never really warmed to them. I've been to Lewes a couple of times recently and they are just a bit too 'right on' for me. Enjoyed Horsham a few times, and really enjoyed Worthing last week, especially as I know one of the players. It feels like more of an Albion connection there as well. I think Worthing is the best I've been to. I haven't been to Whitehawk for about 20 years, I expect it's quite different now. Hassocks is a nice place to watch football, but the county league is quite a step down from the likes of Lewes etc.

Doesnt look like it's had a lick of paint or any improvements in the past 20 years so only difference will be the crowds. Easy for me to say as I wouldn't be paying but if they spent some money on improving the ground they'll get a lot more casual fans returning. Worthing have done a great job of improving their ground and look at the attendances they get (and were getting in lower leagues too).

To be fair I like Whitehawk because it is a shambles most of the time, its endearing to me, I used to watch them back in the days of National League South, and its a 20 minute bus ride from my house. Lewes is all a bit too competent as a far as I'm concerned not nearly enough chaos. Worthing I don't mind, I have friends who go so I have a reason to go and want to do well, but they are on the upper echelons of Non-League now and support wise could rival some Football League sides. In the SCFL I enjoy being an impartial observer, lots of good clubs though, Hassocks is a pretty well run and family friendly club. I watch Mile Oak because a mate plays for them, but the level of football isn't great. Hastings is a bit too far afield for me, but I've always a got a bit of a 'the hills have eyes' vibe about them. Bognor are sound enough and have a pretty good following, albeit a terrible season for them. I think Eastbourne Borough's ground is crap and boring, not a fan. Eastbourne Town is a decent club, but not nearly as fun since their ultras stopped going. A lot of the clubs in The Isthmian South East are pretty similar, perennially struggling to stay up, but Burgess Hill is the pick of that lot, and Littlehampton have occasionally unhinged individuals supporting them which is entertaining. So in summary, every club has their foibles and benefits, I didn't really pin my flag on anyone until a couple of years ago, and groundhopped, but when I got bored of getting home at midnight from North London and some crap non-league ground at Step 5 or 6, I just gravitated towards my closest (Whitehawk), I found it quite enjoyable just supporting every sussex team impartially for a while. Or you can do stupid things and align yourself with Southport for some stupid reason :lolol: .

If you don’t connect with any of them it’s probably best to just visit various Sussex grounds when not watching the Albion.

I have had spells of watching Lewes and Whitehawk, it depended on who else I knew that was going. I went to Lewes v Whitehawk last season and it was like being a neutral fan as I didn’t know who I wanted to win.
I occasionally watch Newhaven as i know I’m going to see people I know there if I go on my own, also i can walk, but never get as excited as watching the Albion play.
I like the look of Hastings ground from photos I have seen, I would like to watch a match there but not sure I want to spend that long travelling to see a game on my own.

Hastings was one of my favourite grounds that I visited on my ground hopping journey last year. Only thing that drags it down is that there's not much around it as it's quite far from the town centre (unlike say, Lewes). History buffs can see the remnants of the old St. Leonards ground next door

The incredible old main stand doesn't have long left as I understand

I’m never sure how long it would take to get from the station to the ground, or is there any parking.
I don’t really know Hastings

It's a long walk and uphill from the station , no parking at the ground but on street is OK provided your arrive a good 40mins before kick off , fortunately no residents parking permits nearby

The ‘awks for me and the boy tomorrow, they’re probably “my team” at the moment.

My mate supports Worthing so I done a few aways with him, but having upset a few on here with regards to ticket related comments 🤣 I’ll be avoiding any Rebels matches for the rest of this season subsequently avoiding what will no doubt be over subscribed

Thanks, I did look at Google Earth and thought it looked like a trek from the station.
