That was my first reaction, direct and clear actions seem to be the only sort of thing he (mis)understands. Just like firing people ad hoc, a group of true Patriots are taking out the trash and saving tax dollars.

Could - he has done a lot of damage to the brand that will take years to rebuild. Even if he was to f*** off to Mars and not come back, today.
Does he really give a shit about electric cars? As long as people look in that direction, and not in the direction of the Starlink IoT-project and Neurallink, he's happy clappy. Its so much better for him than if people would have been raging about the cyberprison he's locking the US into, or his ambition to connect our brains to his computer network.
Electric cars are a nice, comforting distraction for everyone involved but I think people overestimate how much that means to Musk.

I don't mean to be picky but I don't think Musk creates any pioneering tech. He just buys companies that look as if they're making pioneering tech. I just can't see him in front of his PC working out all the 'sciencey' bits that make things actually work. He may have managed to draw a pic of what he'd like his rocket to look like but as far as I can tell he has nothing to do with anything. I imagine him to be like the character in Little Britain who says 'I wan't that one'.
Is Tesla still creating pioneering tech or are they being overtaken by improved tech? I watched the following the other day. He's a bit of a science nerd but created an unscientific experiment to see how Tesla autopilot compared against another make. Skip forward to 8 mins if you don't want to know about Space Mountain in Disneyworld. I found the Tesla comparison quite interesting (not the Space Mountain thing as I couldn't care less).
