Not sure about having no slips this early.

Got some serious shots has Bethell. I can see why pretty much everybody who's seen him bat has gone "we need to pick him now, for everything" regardless of how many runs he's actually scored.
In fairness, I think he has played well so far this innings. I'm just not sold on the idea of him as a Test batsman because I think he has a white ball mentality and not much of a defensive range. But I'm biased against the idea of a care free number three.

I'm off for HIGNFY now then bed. Have a peaceful night all.

I feel like he's more of a t20 fan. Probably supports the Oval team in The Hundred. The twat.

Nah, once he's seated he ain't moving for the day, so I can't see t20 being his thing. A day of being served frogs and gardulla, while glancing at the merriment in the background, sounds like his thing.

I don't think he's old enough or played enough to have any kind of mentality, in fairness.

There's a point that was made on the Wisden podcast last week (and probably elsewhere as well), talented players pretty much have to be picked for the test side straight away or they'll get IPL gigs and barely ever play red ball cricket again, between franchises and England white ball squads. It's like how Livingstone is a good enough player to have scored a double hundred for Lancashire but now hasn't played a first class game since he played in a test on England's 2022 tour of Pakistan.

Our minds were on winning the Hundred and the "3 in a row" County Championship. We can't be brilliant at
everything.
Surrey only had three players in the final side, same as Sussex in 2021. Mind you, this is a cricket thread, so I'm not sure why the Hundred is mentioned.
