They were definitely made differently back then.

No Pasta and Quinoa-based meals for players on their watch.

Former Notts County manager
I've heard of pretty much all of the managers in the top 2 divisions, and plenty in the bottom two. But I've honestly never heard of Frizzell, and you'd think thats a name you'd remember.

Neil Warnock at Scarborough, Mike Walker at Colchester. Fledgling careers that scaled the heights. Interesting post @Mackenzie (y)

Frank Clark at Orient. Went on to take over from Clough at Forest I believe.

He was manager at Oldham for 12 years up until 1982.

You're thinking of (former Albion player) Jimmy Sirrel.

Jimmy Frizzell was manager of Oldham for about 12 years.
How strange. I made an association with Notts County too. I wonder if they also had someone else with an equally similar name as Sirrel. Strange how the old brain works.

The most curious thing..

I’ve started googling some of the less obvious names, some interesting careers and sublime haircuts.

I’m willing to bet Rotherham weren’t playing Pepball under Norman Hunter.

I’d never heard of Ian Greaves, former Man Utd fullback who had a decent career as a manager…

Top thread…
