I don't feel that Palace are our rivals any more. I don't even look for their result. I still want them to lose, but I don't care enough to actively go and look for their result.

For me, Chelsea are the new Palace.
yes,I'm sure Chelsea fans feel the same way ?

Sometimes when we go horribly wrong after RDZ, the next game we come flying back and batter someone.

Have I just made that up or do the stats back it up?

No.

We have the longest record of any Premier league team - Inc Oil FC - of not losing 2 in a row. The last time was in October 2022.

I tend to avoid NSC and any other social media in the build up. Anyone who doesn’t see this as the biggest match of the season…..well, I’m not falling out with anyone….however when people come on here moaning that it’s a shit atmosphere and no one sings blah de blah, ask yourself if you’re one of them that sees this as a “pointless rivalry” etc .

On a personal basis I’d ask if you’re actually a Brighton fan

(Awaits some old bollocks of how you were at Hereford/Gillingham etc, but I still won’t get it)
Chelsea will never be rivals. They are just a club that everyone dislikes and wants to beat.

35 years ago, I shared a flat as a student, with a Palace fan who had a cardboard cutout of Terry Venables. He thought he was getting under my skin. I kind of went along with it.

These days, BHA have moved on. So have I. Our rivals today are different. I'm not telling you to change. I'm just giving my opinion.

I think “hate “ is too strong a word. Can’t we just dislike them with a vengeance? Apologies, but with all the stuff going on in the World at the moment and having drunk too much red wine tonight, I just can’t do hate at the moment.
There are very few people I hate in this world. Scott McGleish maybe. I’ll happily sing ‘We hate Palace’ but my friend and business partner is a Palace fan. I don’t hate him. In fact I’d far rather have a beer and talk football with him than a Sussex based Man Utd ‘fan’. But I can HATE him / them for a day. Or a few hours at least. It’s not real, obviously, but come on, let’s make it a proper occasion.

The ground tomorrow should be a cauldron of HATE. We want their fans and players to think ‘Christ, I really don’t enjoy going there at all’. Otherwise, what’s the point in the rivalry?

How have they changed, would you say?

Chelsea are a temporary annoyance, which I imagine is exactly how they see us. To claim they are our rivals is ludicrous. They are the new Leyton Orient, not the new Palace. We have some temporary beef with them, nothing more.

The Astral Planes, man...
Palace are such a spawny lucky club, they are playing us when virtually all our attacking players are unavailable.
If Joao is injured then we are down to just our club 18-30, Evan & Welbz.
Just f*** off you cvnts
(OK so I've had a few red wines as well)

I've got me boots ready (soft upper, walking style), me sharpened comb (toying with a Hoxton fin), me two tone tonic strides (Stormwear shimmer effect waterproof trousers), me dusters (to wipe the condensation off the car windscreen, as it will be Hot, Hot, Hot inside), a screwdriver (Mmmm, that fruity flavour. Zero alcohol as I'm driving), the coke lined up (zero calorie as I'm on a diet) and a massive posse (@Hugo Rune and @monty uk are big lads, so they tell me), and with a pick-me-up of Philosan, I'll be sorted.

I just thought I’d put in this little story about our loathing between us - I’m talking Palace and us here. Anyway, it was early in the season and we had just drawn against Fulham at the Amex (September 2018). There was engineering work ongoing between Brighton and Southampton so I ended up on Three Bridges station. Decked out in my Albion shirt and enjoying my post match bottle of red vino plonko while standing on the platform. In comes a southbound train from London, out comes a Palace fan.

“Hello, I said, how did you boys get on?” “F*** off!” came the amicable reply.

Palace number two fan alights and greets me “F*** off you c***!”

And then fan number three, referring to our club badge “What’s that piece of shit on your shirt, you c***!”

So I’m standing there, ever so slightly pissed, and having a tremendous giggle. Safe in the knowledge that come what may they hate us and we hate them, and that boys and girls is the end of my story.

P.S. Palace lost that day, 2-0 at home to Southampton. :drink:
