Households across England are facing an inflation-busting £2bn council tax raid this spring despite Rishi Sunak’s promise of pre-election giveaways to save his premiership.
In a deal to address the worsening financial crisis hitting town halls across the country, officials in Michael Gove’s levelling up department have told local authority bosses they expect the maximum possible 4.99% increase to be applied to council tax in April.
The increases are likely to add about £100 to a typical band D council tax bill, adding to the financial pressure on families, with inflation currently at 4%.

The short answer is no, they don’t
The Rwanda stuff is out of their hands for the moment in the Lords and they have basically nothing else. They’re essentially squatting in office and hoping something turns up.

Demonstrates Covid has had an impact but even without it the Tories have failed the NHS.
Ultimately, the NHS is their worse nightmare. Something everyone can access with limited money making opportunities.

Lord Commissioner of the Treasury
Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for Business and Industry
Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for Building and Infrastructure

Arguably, that is 5 different jobs in 6 years.
Civil servants must wonder whether their respective bosses will last the month.

It does, but not anywhere near as big as the Tories. It's been heading in the wrong direction ever since they first got in, with a pre-covid trend line that would still put the list over the 250 line by the time they (hopefully) get voted out at the next GE.
Tories love to try to pin the blame for everything on Covid and the challenges it presented. And, to a certain extent, that's fair: covid did (and continues to do) have an impact. Probably a bigger impact than it should thanks to Boris and Rishi mishandling of it all, but still even a Labour government would have faced head winds from covid. The thing is, any smart voter out there (or, indeed, any smart politician) can easily look at statistics like that graph (and others) and point out that the rot started before Covid. It started before Brexit. Covid and Brexit have made it worse, but the underlying root cause is Tory-led austerity and mismanagement.

To be fair, he has had 4 different bosses himself in that time.
The NHS should be everyone's nightmare, it's not fit for purpose in 2024 with the way it's set, thankfully Labour are open to reform as well and not just throw more money at it.

Not against Reform (not the fash party), such as large organisation can always be reformed.
But social care needs to be urgently addressed, bed blocking is a huge issue and leading also to patients being released too early which ends up being counter productive.
Then there's the overall health of the nation, we're the fatties of Europe, sick and mal-nourished. The State needs to intervene and stop the rot
And bollox it most certainly is. Somewhat ironic as it wasn't the "will of the people" when he was gifted the role of PM. FFS, it wasn't even the "will of the Tory party" who prefered Liz Truss.
It wasn't the "will of the people" that the intellectually stunted one should ever have been PM. As he will be finding out come the next GE (always assuming that the Tories don't get rid of him first)

If he wants to implement the will of the people, he should call an election now.
They are keen on laws, but favour the rights of individual citizens to ignore them. This is modern conservatism as exemplified by 'do as I say, not what I do' Johnson.
