I am unable to go to a game and would like to treat somebody to my seat who doesnt have the means to attend. He knows some people where I sit and as he would be uncomfortable sitting on his own this would be ideal. May sound odd but if I put my seat on exchange am I allowed to buy my own seat back for a guest.

But you wont know when it goes on the market. If it's for a big game and you have a good seat there is a chance it will go quickly.
Is there not a 'share' scheme or something. Think it may cost more than you lose selling your seat though.

You do get one FREE 'share' per season, so if you have not used that yet, it would be cheaper and safer, to pay for him have a membership, then transfer it to him.

That's a costly way of doing that with no guarantee you can actually buy your ticket as someone might grab it before you do.
As suggested buy that person a MyAlbion+ membership (£36). Once the membership is set up add them as Friends and Family on your ticket account. Then share the ticket with them. A minute or 2 to do all this even though it sounds convoluted.

When you put a ticket on the exchange, the ticket is available to buy instantly, assuming the club have opened the sell-side of the exchange, ie they've sold most/all of their own seats.
Bought mine back several times ...... quite ridiculous that you can`t just let your friend go.
Club keeps on about ticket to be used only by yourself and is not transferable yet pretty obvious if you put on exchange you aren`t going.
I`m OAP with plastic ticket with picture on so I can`t but know that some just let friend have barcode on phone. Probably a hanging offence though if caught !!
The law says you can transfer a football ticket (for professional matches; in England) only if the club authorises it.
Clubs choose different ways of authorising ticket transfer legitimately.

Before you share your season ticket, make sure you have read through the following:
- You are signed in as the season ticket holder. Click here to sign in.
- The person you want to share with is a already a current 2022/23 MyAlbion+ member.
- The MyAlbion+ member is part of your Friends and Family group online (Do not create a new account for them.)
- The MyAlbion+ member is the same age band or cheaper as the season ticket holder*. (to upgrade to a more expensive age band use our upgrades system instead.

'Our season ticket sharing scheme allows you to share your ticket with a MyAlbion+ Member. You can share once per season for free, after that you can pay a fee each time, or pay a feee that will allow you to share as many times as you like throughout the season. If so - add him to your friends and family - and then I believe there is nothing stopping you from doing that.
An alternative to all this faffing around and checking age-bands / upgrades etc is for your friend to undergo facial reconstruction surgery so that he looks like you. (A quick look on Google suggests this can be obtained for around $353,000). Bare in mind that apparently the healing process can take several months so possibly only an option if the game in question is around April / May-ish, but it will make any subsequent 'shares' quite a simple and straightforward process.
The main condition is the person you're sharing with has to have paid to be MyAlbion+. The first share in a season is free for you to do, then either pay per share (depending on the category of game) or pay £20 for sharing all season long.

When you say doesn’t have the means to attend , you are saying he hasn’t attended any game before or doesn’t have £40 to buy a membership or why can’t he buy his own tickets?

I miss ye olden days when you just left your ST card with a trusted mate to give to a trusted mate. I know for a fact that a couple of times I was lucky enough to go to Oz, my card was being used to give folks a chance to watch the Albion who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to. No money ever changed hands, it just seemed the right thing to do, and it was always very much appreciated. Funnily enough, I always assumed I was doing the club a favour, bums on seats, merchandise, pies and pints etc. as well as the recipient. Simpler times eh?
