Take a look at the incredible tidying mouse in the clip below. This mouse has a life lesson for Joey Barton.

He/she is more productive, has a greater sense of community and is more at ease with his/her place in this world, than Joey Barton will ever experience.
Note that there is no bitterness towards other animals who create the mess or who are better at tidying up. That mouse is a happy mouse.

To be fair, if that mouse had a twitter account it might turn out they have all sorts of views on gender roles in contemporary society.
Sometimes silence is for the best.

It's a bizarre take, when some of the most established (male) football commentators have absolutely no experience in playing or managing men's football at any serious level. E.g. Martin Tyler, Jonathan Pearce, John Motson.
It’s a bizarre take but not because of the points you make. Those you mention are decorated and incredibly experienced journalists that report, not criticise. They aren’t pundits.

I do agree though that a lot of male pundits are also absolutely shocking irrespective of their playing experience.

The point is that they're commentators who have never played or coached Men's football (at a serious level), which is the reason Barton thinks that women can't commentate on a Men's match.

But his moronic patter is with co-comms and pundits. Commentators male or female are just journalists that love football. Aluko, Cairney, Jenas, Shearer etc are co comms / pundits . The names you say + Jacqi Oakley, Vicky Sparks, Robyn Cowen etc are commentators and thoroughly deserve to be in the press box and commentate on the games because of their qualifications as journalists.

You’re missing the distinction between commentators and pundits - I don’t think Barton has criticised any commentators (yet…..probably only a matter of time).

He really is the gift that keeps on giving..classic thicko schtick..uses way too many words to convey his idiotic thoughts, doesn’t know the difference between their, there etc. Just a continuation of his obnoxious to the core personality, which has been evident throughout his ‘career’.
Absolutely thick as a hiker’s sock. As another poster said, he hasn’t an original thought in his head. He just recites words and ideas he’s read on the internet; meritocracy certainly being one of them. I doubt he can even spell it. When pressed about his thoughts e.g. Piers Morgan he has absolutely nothing to say, has zero evidence, and just repeats his phrase of the day.

I thought that was cute so showed Mrs T. Now we're arguing about whether me or the mouse is faster at tidying up.

What if a player signs for Barca or Real Madrid and knows they will have to do some ball juggling? Basic skill that a crap mid 40s body in ruins can do.

This is exactly the point. Every footballer makes gaffs on camera. The video of the female screwing things up could be anyone.

I'm utterly bewildered by the reactions I see to womens' football.

1) It's nowhere near the standard of men's.

Does it matter ? And if we take into account the years of poor investment then it's hardly surprising. Leave them to enjoy playing.

2) It shouldn't be on television

Some people like it. I find Formula 1 and Golf the most loathsome and nauseous of sports. But I don't complain. I just don't watch them. There's plenty of other stuff.

3) Females shouldn't be pundits

I don't take much notice of pundits, but if they had men's voices they wouldn't get such a bad press. But if I had to analyse it, I would say a lot of the men aren't exactly footballing Einsteins.

Yet folk still drone on. Why ? Just why ?

Yeah, I’m certainly not defending Barton. He’s an incel mug. I just got caught up on the terminology. 😂
If only. Apparently he has already reproduced the species

Last night on MOTD, the presenter and the two guests were all British. Tonight on MOTD, one of the buggers was Irish. It. Is. A. Disgrace.

On a serious note, I really like Given. He's clearly delighted to be there, and being Irish, he's probably read books and that. I also enjoyed Maz Farookhi's commentary. Understated and informed.

And Shearer's punditry was also fun today, with him doing the half time slot somewhere.

There aren't all that many twats on telly football at the moment.

Just far enough away from LDC
In my view;

Commentators - Sam matterface rubbish as is Vicky sparks.

Pundits - Michael owen, jermaine jenas and glenn hoddle, annoying and rubbish as is eni oluko

Kelly sommers, laura woods, dan walker, gary lineker, mark pougatch, alex scott all good anchors

Emma hayes, nedum onouah, Alan shearer all great pundits

Whether someone is good or bad at their job is nothing to do with race or gender. Making either of those a criteria to define who is good or bad as a group is Prejudice. End of.

This is a great list. I'd just add "Merse" to the list of bad pundits and say Karen Carney isn't for me Clive (but I know others like her when we've discussed this). I like 'token Scotsman' Ally McCoist as a pundit too. Again, he might divide the room, but I think he's one of the best. Everything else you've written is bang on the money

The one and only time I saw Chris Hughton on as a pundit, he impressed me enormously. He was streets ahead of the rest.
