Thank you. Can think of better ways to spend a NYE but hope it entertains (y)
It arrived on Friday and I finished it half an hour ago. A rip-roaring, rollicking adventure👍
As a keen (and profitable but very low stakes) poker player, I am immensely impressed at, and jealous of, your poker successes. Multiple appearances at WSOP in Vegas is really something.
Wishing you all the best for 2024. Make sure you book Dublin in May.

Thank you so much for the kind words and yes I enjoy my poker and still play a reasonable game but not at quite the same levels!!

I'm going to do my damndest to get to Dublin, and it will be more than a dream fulfilled if we make it. I went to Amsterdam but no tix and that was a riot

Yes a very happy New Year to you too and anyone else dropping in on this thread

Morning all. I had a voice message at the end of January from Rugrat (Tony) with an update and asking me to post on NSC when he, in his words, went to 'the big Amex/poker room in the sky'. I'm very sad to say that day has arrived. His amazing wife Judy let a group of us know that he sadly passed away just after midnight today, having been in a hospice for the past couple of weeks. I told him, after his message, that he sounded at peace with the situation and had a very calm outlook that, while he the ref was getting ready to blow the final whistle, he'd had a great game.

Tony, being Tony, was always thinking of other people and wanted me to put out a final note to say (again, in his words) "A lot of people bought my book – but if you didn't buy it, buy it!" He was also very grateful to all the people who had brought his book and the posters on NSC he had come into contact with. I was privileged to have known him and worked with him on his book, which – it has to be said – is a fantastic read.

On that note, following one last instruction from him, go and buy the book, the proceeds of which all go to charity.

RIP @Rugrat xx

This is genuinely a true story.

I was talking to someone this afternoon about how hard it can be to get into a company. He was saying how he's been trying for years, applied for multiple roles and have several interviews without landing any of the jobs. I told him about Tony and how he made the introduction for me to a recruiter who then promptly hired me and I stayed at that company, moving upwards into many roles in turn. Tony opened the door for me and hopefully I can do the same for this neighbour of mine (Although I don't have the type of clout that Tony did!).

RIP Tony.
