[Albion] Injury list

Brighton factually.....
With the international fixtures coming up, and some of our remaining players traveling all over the globe, I hope we do not add to the list of injuries or will some of these be back for Forest and Athens games. We cannot afford anymore injuries otherwise I fear for the rest of the season.

When are these lot due back, correct me if I am wrong with who is still out or missing anyone.
Injury list.
Lewis Dunk
Pervis Estupiñán
Tariq Lamptey
James Milner
Solly March
Jakub Moder (nearly back)
Julio Enciso
Danny Welbeck

Players going away.
Facundo Buonanotte
Bart Verbruggen
Joao Pedro
Pascal Gross
Billy Gilmour
Evan Ferguson
Simon Adingra

International breaks were never really a concern in my head before, but now they 100% are, anymore injuries no matter how small will really impact us now.
Fingers crossed.

Mitoma? I read on an obscure website that he has pulled out of the Japan squad due to . . .injury!! Perhaps he is just wanting a break as it is "only" v Syria??

I just posted this in another thread. Just in case you missed it, here it is.

" It's been reported that the JAF (Japan Football Association) doctors diagnosed Mitoma has been suffering from severe muscle strains. (It appears on the verge of tear.)

The JFA will send an official medical report to Brighton and are planning to arrange a meeting with the club to discuss issues surrounding the player's situation at the club."

Eh, are they suggesting there is a situation as in we have over played him and brought this on, or we are not identifying injuries correctly therefore not looking after him correctly.

Seems that they (Japan FA) are saying we've been over-playing him and are risking injury.

Is it the Bielsa-syndrome we’re seeing? Everyone just fall apart the second year.
It's not just us though. Newcastle also have a lot of players out, possibly more than we do. Spurs have started to be effected by injuries too. It's more than likely that we are now seeing a snow ball effect of the amount of football players are expected to play. Coupled with the lack of breaks because of covid effected season, the following season starting late but still needing to finish promptly for the Euro's, a mid-season World Cup which meant clubs had to play more games in a shorter space to time to ensure the season still finished at a normal time.

Now clubs like us and Newcastle are having to cope with extra European games. Players are going into games already tired which will lead to more injuries. It's all taken it's toll and with another summer tournament (as well as AFCON and Asia Cup coming up in January) I fear it's only going to get worse.

This is not a surprise though is it?

He's been looking like he's been playing with some issues for a while now as we've had to keep playing him because of injuries.

Ferguson's been looking the same.

Is it me, or does there seem like there are more internationals than there used be.

Would explain why he was benched against Sheffield United. I’m guessing the club may have known he needed time out and knew the international break was coming up.

Yes there are, quite simply because there are more nations affiliated to FIFA than ever before. The 1986 World Cup had 121 countries enter the qualification stage (plus Mexico and Italy who automatically qualified as hosts and holders). The 2022 World Cup all 211 FIFA members were eligible to enter the qualification stage (Qatar as hosts didn't need to take part, so a maximum of 210 nations could have been involved in the qualification process).

It's only going to get worse both domestically and on the international stage, with the group stage of the European Club competitions and the World Cup Finals being expanded to include more teams, which means more players, playing more matches. And that's before we get started on pointless friendlies and the Nations League nonsense.

And I guess the way they play nowadays is another thing, with wing backs and more and more near max runs. When I played it was quite chill to be a RB or whatever. Just strolling around 😀

Are you talking individuals or the team as a whole? if it's the latter that is hardly the case, were playing more games than ever before thanks to the european campaign, tiredness is setting in, players are getting injured, yet we are still sitting 8th in the league.

I think this season was always going to test us, get a few wins under our belt, and we'll be fine.

No. We hardly bomb around like his team did. We spend a lot of time passing between 3 or 4 players. The way we play invites physical knocks.

From the BBC: "Meanwhile, Kenny confirmed that Brentford defender Nathan Collins will miss the New Zealand game because of an ankle injury, but expects Brighton striker Evan Ferguson to be fit despite limping off in the defeat by the Dutch".

Oh great, flog the 19 year old who’s obviously not fully fit and needs a rest in a meaningless game against crap opposition. Twat.
