Now stood on East Croydon station and after some reflection since my last post, I’m REALLY pissed off. We should have won that! We’re better than them.

Come on I'm not bothered about losing tonight really but seeing so much belittling of the league cup when we've won absolutely nothing in our history is laughable really (yeah I know some of if is tongue in cheek)
😉 I might just be jumping around if we were to win it one day, but tbh it is the least important of the lot & allows more rest & hopefully the risk of injuries.

Losing to Chelsea feels a bit embarrassing tbh.

Fati and Pedro need to find their shooting boots. And I'm not sure who chipped that dopey short pass out of defence that cost us the goal, because the replay only showed the finish (JPVH ?). I've no problem with us playing it round the back as we're generally brilliant at it - but don't CHIP the ball around FFS. Its just a perfect opportunity to intercept, which they did, resulting in a truly shitty team turning us over.

They didn't beat us. We beat ourselves.
I cant remember who gave it away but Igor was the main culprit for the goal from what I saw. Randomly ran up the pitch and totally took himself out of the game. Obviously early days but his decision-making/lack of awareness is a bit of a worry. Needs a few games with Dunk/Veltman alongside him.

Joao Pedro had an absolute stinker, and doesn't particularly bode well that Fati has now missed three sitters in four appearances...

Unfortunately Igor's erratic positioning and play is exactly what fiorentina fans warned us about. Constantly out of position as well. He has the raw talent but he needs to be guided. Which is why I couldn't understand why de zerbi went with that defence tonight.

Can't argue with any of that. Pedro was always involved, but constantly dispossessed and that was a really bad miss. Fati had the same chance he had at Man U - he had about 15 minutes to tee it up and tuck it away, but telegraphed his finish to the keeper when he had the WHOLE GOAL gaping.

And at the risk of going David Lopez, I'm still not sure what Buananotte is for. He can't play wide right, because ALL he ever does is cut inside into traffic and lose it. He's not got the presence or positional nouse yet to play centrally. I appreciate he is only a child, but he looks a long way off being a 1st teamer right now IMO.

A few too many players just looking really off the pace at the moment. March looks back to his ineffective worst which is concerning, Igor's positioning and massive lack of pace doesn't endear him to me and the less said about Buonanotte the better. Said in the summer we needed another LB and that still stands. Pervis has been excellent since he's been here but he can't play every game and if he gets injured we're in the shit a bit. Really missing Enciso at the moment too.

100% with this. If we won the Carabao Cup it would probably be the greatest moment in our history after Hereford. I hate it when another chance of silverware passes us by. This is one we actually could win.
Man City are out and Chelsea home to Blackburn. Could have been interesting :(

Facu obviously has talent and desire but jesus, he gets shrugged off the ball so easily. Championship loan would've been perfect for him, but I suspect he's still struggling to adapt to life in Brighton, let alone living out of boxes at a Travel Tavern in some northern shitehole.

I'm not totally writing him off yet as its a nonsense not to trust our recruitment, and Enciso took a while to settle and adapt. But I agree he needs to beef up and adjust to the physicality of this League before he can start showing his skills. At the moment he just looks WAY off it. I'll mark him down as a work in progress, hopefully he'll come good, but I've not even seen flashes so far tbh (unlike Baleba, who looks like a real prospect already).

Well that was a waste of an evening- wasn’t going until this morning when my boss who knows I’m a B&HA fan says can you take my place in company box at Chelsea. So I’ve watched us play badly, surrounded by Chelsea Neanderthals trying to be pleasant to some Saudi client staff - who didn’t even stay for most of the second half!!

A desperate Poch at the biggest spending club on the planet, made just 4 changes plus 1 enforced. With home advantage.

Whilst we didn’t start with:
Veltman
Webster
Dunk
Ferguson or Welbeck
Gilmour
Adingra

Nothing to be ashamed of. With a heavy fixture list unlike the Chavs, RDZ took a punt and it didn’t come off.

We know by now that Dunk + Veltman = wins.

Adingra ! That's a bit of a reach.
