You don’t think her diet advice might have killed others or given them eating disorders? Is a raw food diet an eating disorder?
yes, its just people are too polite to say so. people do strange things to change themselves and people's perception of them, some cheer them on, admonishing those who say its not normal and probably bad.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Clickbaity headline.

Sounds to me like somebody suffering from considerable mental health difficulties linked to a severe eating disorder.

I'm not a vegan, but eating a plant based diet (even a raw food one) isn't going to kill you so long as you're getting the right nutrients from wherever. That headline sounds like the sort of thing you'd expect from the Daily Mail.
This.

Animals don't cook their food, and the last cow I saw didn't look like it was going to starve soon, despite its diet of almost exclusively raw grass.

Regardless, this is still a young woman who has essentially slowly committed suicide due to untreated mental health issues. It’s a tragedy and stark reminder to all of us that sometimes we have to take tough decisions on behalf of our loved ones. People suffering from untreated mental health problems often aren’t thinking clearly, and if refusing treatment sometimes need the choice taken out of their hands.

It’s also a reminder of the dangers of excessive internet usage and clout chasing. I’ve seen people I know go fully off the deep end into flat earth conspiracies, anti-vaccine rhetoric, the whole shebang.

The chance of this happening is rare.

Or given my preference, medium-rare.

Humans have evolved slightly differently….

You really are dislikable **** on here sometimes. Many times I have wished to put you on Ignore but becuase, somehow, you are a Mod I am unable to. I'll probably get a ban now but who cares just feel better for posting that. No mental health issue is a bigger killer than an Eating Disorder and anyone suffering from one has my sincere sympathy.
You are only looking at one part of this issue. The vulnerable here are those being influenced, including many many children. The internet and influencers are the problem whether that be those propagating misogyny, suicide, eating disorder or whatever else.

Well the nasty thing about this thread is obviously where it pokes fun at someone who died, though when you live in a country that values the wealth of billionaires more than the lives of it's subjects it always seems odd to get outraged by such a thing.

The nice part is that it does touch upon quite a few issues.
You've got your classic media relationship of body image, the pressure to conform and impact on self worth. Quick aside to congratulate recent generations of men for their sterling work catching up with the ladies on having this f*** their lives up.
The lack of care and downright encouragement of eating disorders in the modeling industry.
The dangerous rise of pro-ana forums.
The camouflaging of ED in the wellness movement particularly in relation to highly restrictive diets.
The exploitation of "wellness" as a commodity.
The nature/desirability/lack of moderation on social media platforms.
The near complete dearth of ED services in the country anyway and their further cutting (see earlier point on government).

You really are a piece of work. I have very close experience of ED/mental health and rarely have I been so incensed on the internet, let alone on NSC, by your completely crass comments on this thread. f*** you!!
Well, apologies for triggering you. However, the ED side of things was suggested on here and alluded to by her friends. It’s not been confirmed either way.

I found, and still find, this to be death by choice of diet in the long term. The concerning things in the article to me were:

In other words, the belief in fad diets and promotion of it is dangerous.

Probably best all round to close this thread.
I disagree. Sweeping the malign ‘influence’ under the carpet just creates more societal issues. At the moment people are just leaving it to schools to try to combat whilst merrily insisting on the freedom to express themselves on the internet. Just like in life there is real consequence to behaviour and in this case from the actions of influencers.

This isn't a thread about influencers, it is a thread about one particular influencer. One that we really don't know enough about to be making judgements.

I fully agree with what you are saying but closing this thread is not sweeping the issue under the carpet. A more general thread would be far more useful to discuss what needs to be discussed.

This one is upsetting people.

Yeah, like you can't be malnourished on a meat and 2 veg diet. If you eat only 100 G of meat and potatoes a week, you will also probably starve.
