Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Winning Div 3 south, drawing against Chelsea in the FA Cup, getting promoted in 79, winning back to back Championships with Micky, winning the playoffs at Cardiff, beating Man City at Withdean, winning 8 matches out of 8 in March 2011, getting promoted to the Championship, beating Doncaster in our first game at the Amex, beating Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool in the last two years.
It’s been quite a journey.

It should really be Hereford, but Hereford for me felt more like relief than anything else. A bit like finishing a marathon when you can finally have a nice rest. (I've never run a marathon by the way).
That’s how I felt. It should be Hereford but it wasn’t that type of game I felt. There was so much more to do after that game that although we stayed up the job had only just started. Weird I suppose.

Amongst many moments of unbelievable joy the one I have selected is a strange one. It was our away fixture to QPR in 2017. I wasn’t even there! Our daughter, who at the time was living in Mexico, invited us over to stay for a couple of weeks. On the evening of our flight from Heathrow was the time we were playing at Loftus Road. I kept checking my phone for updates. Towards the end of the game we were called for boarding and just as I entered the plane the caption on my phone came up with the result - 2-1 to the good guys.

I knew then that we were promoted to the Premier League. I was on such an exhilarating high, if the plane was flying at 30,000 feet I was at 40,000!

Having said that there were many occasions last season to match that euphoria. Our best ever season by a mile.

A happy memory tinged with real fear… winning at the Den in the playoff 2nd leg. My young son was with me and the Millwall lot started fires on the terraces and we’re trying to get at us. Really worried about us getting home unscathed.

Yeah that surreal. They made a run from one end of the terrace to the other to get on the pitch but luckily couldn’t make it. The atmosphere was brutal. Micky small got some serious abuse.

And in that match vs. Bristol Warboys the same week if I remember correcly.
I was at both the Walton & Hersham and Bristol Rovers games. Twelve goals conceded at home in a matter of days. I managed to stick with it for a few more years though! :drink:

Sheff Wed - 1976 - when the final whistle went, just sticks in my mind.
83 semi-final scenes under the clock end on the way out the ground.
Buckley winner vs Donny
Pocognoli goal at QPR
MacAllister penalty vs Utd

I think all of those stick will stick with me forever…..

I was unable to get to that Chesterfield match although I was at the away game that year that was a draw I think. A great moment and one in which I felt we were truly on our way back, whatever that may be, for the first time in a long time.

The Enciso moment, well I am still smiling. I genuinely shouted at my son as we celebrated 'That was the best moment of my life!' and then told him not to tell his mother. Amazing amazing moment, it made me feel much more alive.
Mate and I both agreed that game was one of the best displays of football we’ve ever seen. Breathtaking at times. The goal was something else.

The night against Chesterfield was an amazing experience. For some reason that night I was sat in block V, so got a good view of the header. From memory it nearly broke the net!

Henfield
Hereford

In the Premier League, I would say the second half against Man Utd at home last season, when everything clicked and we were incredible
Hereford for me was more of a relief.

Best I can recall was full time at Highbury when we beat Sheffield Wednesday in the 1983 semi final. I think I cried.
