What’s your source? Seems the type of player we’d go for.
Here is another. Facundo Medina. Age - tick. Left foot - tick. South American - fit. Playmaker - fit.

Another Facundo. An almost perfect fit but his team (Lens) has just qualified for the Champions League. Pretty much has to be a no. I imagine we’re only interested in raiding non-Champions League teams.

In that case what's the worry?

If they're not particularly good players then you should be laughing that clubs are falling over themselves to give us ridiculous money for average players. And if they're average players then we should be able to replace them relatively easily. Win win!

Basically, what I'm trying to say is cheer up, there's no need to be negative about things, TB has done a pretty decent job so far.
I’m not worried nothing I can do about it, I’m questioning the clambering for our players after other clubs and players have had excellent seasons. Mbeumo good young player would be an excellent signing for any top six side doubt they will even get a bid for him.
The Fulham stance on interest from Manure for their midfielders will be interesting and how much will they offer.

Fair enough. But same logic applies when we sell. So what’s the valuation for Caicedo and MacAllister ? Deals only happen at ‘market valuation’ if both sides keen to trade. Also, the deals you mention involved foreign clubs keen to benefit from PL riches as their domestic competition does not operate in the same financial sphere. I sense we want to buy him more than Chelsea want to sell. If we don’t then there is no valuation anyway as we move on.

(Not a trick question  ), would you swap Caicedo, for Colwill + £15m?

Trossard’s team had just qualified for the Champions League (group stage) when we signed him, and we were a lower table Premier League team for whom Europe was a dream at the time.

Don’t underestimate the lure of the Premier League and the £££ associated with it.

I think it's a consequence of a club playing 'the right way' and being on the up for a few seasons.

Brentford have shown that last year was no fluke and it's probably no coincidence that they're now going to lose Raya. Toney would mot likely have been sold too if he didn't have that 8 month ban, although I guess someone might still be in for him. I'm sure there'll be interest in Mbuemo. I imagine Brentford's stance to player sales and recruitment will be fairly similar to ours.

Fulham are run differently to both ourselves and Brentford. They have a mega rich owner who seems quite happy to spend huge sums of money for not much return so they may well reject all bids.

As for Eze, Palace are run in a way I don't understand at all. They price Zaha out of any move then pay him far more than they should. Repeatedly. They now have a player in his 30's with no value that they're either going to lose for nothing or pay 200k a week to keep. So god knows what they'll do if they get a bid for Eze. They haven't spent a lot on transfers in the last few years so maybe they're trying to cut their cloth accordingly. Which might mean they'll be sensible and accept a decent bid for Eze.

If that’s the deal in its entirety then probably not as we also need to replace Caicedo. This is where it’s difficult for fans to judge as we don’t know the pipeline of replacements. If it’s decent then the Caicedo money can be used to invest further in potential rather than join the arms race.

It’ll depend on how much and for how long Palace’s owners are prepared to fund the continued losses. They lost 24m last season (21-22) and they’ve not done anything in the season that would significantly reduce these losses - eg sell players or finish higher up the table. It

The guy who told me is right around 60-70% of the time, being honest. But he knew things before like Moises and Alexis’ new contracts. Burnley are more advanced than us for Maatsen as he was on loan there last year it would depend what sort of playing time we could offer I guess. But apparently, for what it’s worth, he’s a ‘player of interest’. But I’d imagine there’s lots of those

Have you made money betting on his inside info? I'd do it.

Just have a sneaky feeling Caicedo will surprise most of us and stay one more season.

Better to be the mainstay in a team in Europe and playing every week, than move to a club as badly run as Chelsea. I would keep him unless he throws a complete paddy.

i was thinking along the same lines. Ideally we sell one very good player each year for mega bucks and nurture the rest including Moises who may move on next year. It’s only when you get stupid bids like we did for Cucu when you can’t turn it down. Even then we had a back up ready to buy. To me that is the way forward.

To put the £30 million bid for Colwill into context, it has been reported today that Manchester United are bidding £50m to Chelsea for Mason Mount.

I'd rather keep Caicedo than Ally Mac for the simple reason that Caicedo will be harder to replace. There's no obvious understudy in the squad, whereas we have several number tens, and both Gross and Gilmour could play as defensive midfield players alongside Moises. Europe might just swing it for us, although if Arsenal come back in and can offer Champions League ....

Also another small factor in our favour is that I believe due to FFP Chelsea need to sell or offload a large number of players by the end of June for this season's accounts, so the later we leave any deal, we might be able to push them to a more favourable price if they become a bit more desperate.

Can't help think that many other clubs know this too, and if I was a club wanting a Chelsea player, I'd leave negotiations down to the last day or two of June. They may be forced by then to offload a few at cheaper prices before the June financial cut off.
Agree with this. Chelsea can keep saying they want to keep Colwill but let's see how easy it is first for them to offload all the players they need to get rid of to comply with the financial rules. The players that have come through the ranks offer the greatest profit and just might need to be sold when their many highly-paid overseas duds prove impossible to shift.

Spot on, some on here seem to be in the Todd valuation camp
Agree - I think Colwill is worth about £30m to move from a ‘big 6’ club to us, possibly rising to £35m. The ‘big 6’ get rinsed. The Albion seem to be similar in terms of their valuation.
