Why?

We're the only game on tonight.

Why is it kicking off at 8pm, giving people less time to get home - making it even later for kids that might want to attend - why?

Agree ridiculous, bought my youngest daughter a ticket without looking at the KO time. Assumed it would be about 7:15.

5 hour drive back to Manchester for some with no breaks in a car. 3am arrival time. Nuts.

Good job we don’t take our lead from La Liga. I checked the scores last night, the Atletico Madrid game was just coming up to half time at around 11pm local time - and it can’t be to protect them fro:the excessive heat, which is not much of an issue in early May there!

Seems to be a standard kick off for Sky for Prem evening games now.
And yes it is a pain in the arse for pretty much everyone.

Of all the inconveniences to the paying fan, dictated by the TV companies, this really doesn't seem a bad one.

7.45pm has always been the traditional evening KO time. Getting home 15 minutes later isn't really a big deal - and for people rushing to get there after work (in my case 70 miles away) the extra 15 minutes there is no bad thing.

In all seriousness, that trip back from Forest at 7:30 KO was a nightmare. I expect a 3K away following tonight but tickets aren't that easy for them so all loyal fans from around the country. When we sing "We support our local team" then yes, some of them will be from Surrey but more will come from Manchester or even Exeter and that's a minimum 4.5 hour journey with open motorways.

and even worse when they lose!

don't recall where i heard it, but "traditional" wed night games used to be 7.30 in most towns - and Brighton was 7.45 due to a high level of commuters

traditional = 70's / 80's

I'd prefer 7.30.

Quieter on trains/roads though.

Thanks for all coming to the defence of my wife. Whilst at a family meal she was surprised the game kicked off at 8, then we all insisted it was usually 8. Even her sister said 8 was common. Comrade Mrs Comrade Sam's argument seems to deserve far more kudos. Genuinely can't now recall what times are more prominent.

Agreed - utter nonsense on a non work day.

Southampton are away at Forest this coming bank holiday, 8pm KO. That's a disgrace.
Its the second part of an evening double-header, as BT have our game vs Everton at 5.30. Its all part of an ENTIRE festival of Bank Holiday football...

12.30 - Stockport v Hartlepool (Sky)
12.30 - Tranmere v Northampton (Sky)
15.00 - Millwall v Blackburn (Sky)
17.30 - BHA v Everton (BT)
20.00 - Notts v Soton (Sky)

Football for the armchair masses.

Brighton factually.....
All kick off's should be 7:30 rather than 8 (or even 7:45).

You want to encourage families to come right?
Ah, yes, but no.....
1: do the club get a say when the match is broadcasters live on tv ?
2: would the club actually rather have families with 2, kids in tow, or adults paying full whack ?
