It definitely deserved a better cheer, but there was a noticeable 'holy shit' reaction going on.
At first from where I was (north end of WSL) I thought it had taken a deflection or similar, wasn’t until I saw the replay I realised it had just swerved in the air

Poor first touch, realised the ball wasn't where he wanted it, took a swing and luckily sliced it past the keeper.
Yep, the first touch wasn't what he wanted but to adjust and recover was incredible.

Welbeck's goal that wasn't a header would have been the talk of the town in most matches, too, though it's understandably not getting as much attention as Gross's volley or Undav's chip. Each of the three brace-scorers made sure that one of theirs was an absolute worldie.

I saw him in Preston Park the following day, couldn't resist giving him a big shout of "what a goal yesterday, Pascal!" he didn't look too impressed, I think he was trying to stay incognito.
