[Albion] Very early transfer window considerations

It’s probably a little too early to speculate on forced departures this summer; players that will cost rivals a lot of money but where we’ll believe it’s best for the club to sell.

However there are some gaps in the squad that will need filling. Whilst RDZ will have a good look at players like Alzate (who I think is nailed on for next year’s squad), Moder and Kozlowski, I think the following areas really need addressing:

Estupinian back up:
He is so good, we have no player putting pressure on him for his position and if injured/suspended, there is no player to do his role in a similar way.

LCB:
It’s going to be tough to keep Colwill. But Chelsea literally don’t need him. However, they’ll want a buy-back to sell and we won’t agree to that. We need a left footed ball playing centre back as a priority.

Caicedo back up:
Yes, we have Ayari and Gilmour but I think we need a stronger, faster more dynamic player to break up play in midfield if Caicedo leaves or is injured/suspended. I really like Onanna at Everton but he is probably well out of range, even if they go down. I suspect the club have some realistic targets though.

Mitoma back up:
Done. We’ll surely bring in Simon Adingra.

March back up:
Buonanotte, Sarmiento and Enciso can all do a job on the right but perhaps we might sign another boy wonder to help back up that position. One of these two who are linked regularly with us for me:

I think whilst may have had final say on transfers in general happy to work with who he was given. I think DE Zerbi will be more hands on and will put names to Bloom

Another defender/LB plus replacements for any that move on. I wouldn't worry if those replacements come from the academy. It has been a while since a defender broke through.

Equally we do have one of the smallest squads in the league so adding a couple of alternatives might be nice. GK, LB, ST could all be added and not flood us

Manor Solomon from Fulham/ Shaktar would be my choice

I like Manor a lot, but he’s more of a left winger than a striker.

Mateo Retegui would be my go to first pick - he’s been described as the ‘Argentinian Harry Kane’.
23 years old and will be available this summer.
But I expect there to be a lot of interest.

Someone more under the radar like Lucas Beltrán is more us.

Here and There
I can remember times when the transfer window was the highlight of the season.

Now I dread them
Choose to embrace them… it’s not like we’re replacing players without a solid plan these days. Get excited about who we bring in instead…
