I remember a murder there by shotgun in 1992. Turned out the killer was an old classmate. Which figured, he once thought it was funny to give me a toffee with a topping of washing powder and chased me home one day intent of giving me a clout. He was a very difficult person to 'de-friend'.

I remember that.
The victim, about 5 years before that, beat up a gentle close friend of mine on a bus from Brighton town centre to Whitehawk.
Regarding the murder, the victim had seen the girlfriend of a fellow inmate during visiting at prison and started an affair with her on leaving prison first. When the other guy got out, he drove to Brighton with a shotgun.

I don't believe a word coming from Mr Coombs - he's making the classic liar's mistake of adding mounds of detail in the belief that detail makes his story more credible.
I remember CS as I lived in Whitehawk at that time, I would say we knew each other but not good friends or anything like that.
Obviously not someone I would want as an enemy.
He was a big Albion fan and I think the last time I saw him was at Gillingham.

I knew him very well. His mum used to ask me to take him fishing to "keep him out of trouble" and I did so many times.
The posts directly above yours (mentioned by Brighton Lines) are not about the person on the BB2 documentary.
I believe the victim mentioned in the documentary just got into an argument with the murderer, at the time I didn’t hear that he was a troublemaker or “scum”

Fair enough - I was only commenting on the strengths of those posts. I thought I'd made that clear - I certainly don't have any personal knowledge of any of the people who may or may not have been involved, and I intended no slight on any innocent parties.
I wasn’t sure you realised some posts are about people not in the documentary,
especially when you said “hardly worth air time”

I knew Leigh Shaw very well as a teenager - 1971-1976 - we were both Saltdean lads - we went to school together [Longhill] and played out evenings and weekends.
Football, cricket and "mad-hole" golf after-hours on the pitch 'n' putt, plus some excursions into Woodingdean territory.
He lived at the bottom of Mount Drive with his dad and younger brother but there was no mum around.
I'd describe him as a gentle rouge, we got into plenty of mischief but never fighting. Certainly not SCUM as I think you may be suggesting!
We lost touch when we left school in 76, so whether living in Whitehawk changed him later, I wouldn't know.
I was shocked and saddened to hear of this death.
I recall he was a hammers fan, he had plenty of gob, but he was very small [slightly built] for his age - it was always me who had to go into the "offie" to buy the booze when we were 15 as he still looked 12.
I'll watch this with close interest ...

Surprised he was let out after bashing a neighbour a few years before when previously released. 25 years might sound a lot but can't help feel that people like him should be kept locked up until they are over pensionable age and far less likely to do something similar upon eventual release. He could now live another 30+ years whereas the victim doesn't have that opportunity, and it's so often the victim that gets forgotten about in cases such as this.

I knew Leigh Shaw, not closely, but he came along to East Brighton Park to watch his mates play for my team, Brighton Rangers. He was a really nice bloke and it was a tragedy when he was murdered. I can't remember much detail but evidently, when he was asked which football team he supported, he answered West Ham. Stacey had put a pool ball in a sock and battered Leigh numerous times over the head. If Leigh had said Brighton, he might not have become a victim.
