All of which will make absolutely no difference to the enjoyment of the story for the vast majority, while perhaps making a few feel more comfortable reading them.
Not sure what the story is here really, it's hardly a new thing for old books to have their language updated for modern audiences.

Some of Roald Dahl's stuff needed editing back in the 60s because he was a bit unswerving in his language.
I'm not against the correction of terminology in new adaptions at all. It's not an issue. It's not about offending people, it's just the right thing to do.
Some of the Dahl corrections are a little odd though. I saw some extracts and couldn't work out why they needed altering.

Glad I bought the full pack whilst they were still the words of the writer. Having read quite a bit about Roald Dahl I don't think he would be best pleased to have his lifetime works altered. But hey, why respect one of the greatest authors to have lived.

About time to be honest, rather than totally binning his works, a little tweak here and there, bob's ya uncle, everyone's happy.
I must admit whilst reading my daughter some Beatrix Potter a few years ago, I felt somewhat uncomfortable with the amount of times violence that was unleashed on the poor bunnies by their mother, So much so I had too explain was common place when the story was written and sadly your grandfather also unleashed on us and thankfully we have moved on and this kind of behaviour is deemed unacceptable now.

Why not keep them in the original form, and re-release them in an updated form?

An absolute bigot by all accounts leading to the family to apologise a few years ago.
I'd imagine this is purely a commercial decision to keep the cash rolling in and aligns the books with any new movies made.

once you open up the work to correction, anything is in scope. every percieved micro agression or possible association is valid for correction. weird one i saw was all reference to Kipling are removed.
People vehemently opposing this (and that to redacting or rewriting Mark Twain works etc) include James O'Brien, Salman Rushdie, David Baddiel.
So this isn't your archetypal culture wars debate.
Their reasons include:
The original works context, criteria, nuance.
Triviality.
Where does this stop eg double chins can be mentioned but not fat.
