I loved it how RDZ made early subs on 57 minutes, it was becoming all too predictable for Bmuff. Caicedo and Sarmiento improved us.

Not just an Albion thing, managers can be too clever by half after some good results. Every EPL game is vital, imho play the best 11 in the right positions. He took Bmuff with their new pacey signings too lightly.

Erm, the credit should go to RDZ for spotting what needs to be done to break down the low block Shirley?

He obviously set up the team with the players he had available from the start to try to win. That he saw what needed to change to get the result and then change the team is the sign of a great manager imo.

I was feeling quite smug, at half time I said give Welbeck 10 mins and take him off if he hasn't scored and bring on Samiento, also thought Caicedo needed to come on but thought it would be for Gross or Lamptey to allow Gilmour to do more up front... Close.

In a game where the opposition is still coming at you a bit, I can understand why Sarmiento isn't starting. However, once the opposition is in full defend their box mode, the difference having several players who are prepared to beat their man makes all the difference in creating a chance.

RdZ has said he was struggling to choose between Jeremy and Undav as starter. So he clearly wasn't sure which approach would unlock Bournemouth. You could argue that he made the right choice, but Undav missed his chance on 15 minutes.

My view was that Sarmiento should have started (not being clever after the fact). I think we'll see a lot more of him this season.

Undav missed or had saved most of his and I was thinking that what they should have done is asked me to put some kit on and be the keeper for his set of shots - he'd then score 6 in a row, and would be full of confidence instead of Steele saving each one and heading off to the dressing room thinking 'I hope I do better in the game' - not repeat it exactly what he did in the warmup on 15 mins...

Possible Undav and Sarmiento and not Welbeck might have been a better option……easy after the event though.

Intersting article about Jason Steele in teh Times today. Clearly a player who thrives when his confidence is high. Undav looks like one of those players to me. He needs external validation to play at his best. It's not right or wrong, but if we know that.... as you say, let his score a few in warm up!

Indeed, a real peach of a cross, just when we needed it most. He seems to have become rather overshadowed & le has had less game time since the emergence of Mitoma and Caicedo. Still a great prospect though.

I usually place my first scorer bets on the basis of what I see in these drills. Suffice to say I didn't bet on Undav on Saturday

Bit harsh considering we had multiple opportunities to take the lead in the first half and if we had done so, I'm confident we'd have rattled in a few more. RDZ isn't responsible for Undav mishandling the banjo when faced with the arse of a cow.
