Really good to see Buonanotte back in training (must be a good training day for RDZ with Moises back too)
Hopefully recovering (recovered from his neck injury)

I‘ve been getting very exited about this - have been since we made the deal months ago - despite what people are mostly saying, I’m going to stick with my belief that he will be debuting with our first team pretty much after a few months training around the squad. I’ll eat my Albion scarf if wrong (or chew some tassels off it 😉)
RDZ today’s Cherries presser - “I'm happy for Facundo Buonanotte, he will be on the bench tomorrow and we will see if he can play."

And I’m happy I don’t have to eat my Albion scarf as I promised back in November (above) if Facu didn’t go straight into the first team squad 😁

Seriously though, I am absolutely stoked we‘re going to see Facu on the bench tomorrow - I don’t think the oppo will know what’s going to hit them when we eventually see Mitoma, Ferguson and Facu (in CAM?), all on the pitch at the same time - I think it will be a tour de force - this lad will outshine most of our other youngsters imo ( Gilmour, Enciso, Sarmiento, Undav, Moran ) and also prove to be a versatile addition to the squad I’m sure of it - another incredible investment signing by Club who’s market value will increase rapidly.

Was gutted to hear of Facu’s injury. Sad way for him to exit a competition he was obviously looking forward to. By far our most promising signing this season IMO so hoping with the great medical team at BHA, that he will still get the start RDZ was hoping from him albeit set back a month or so and this is not a lingering, career impacting injury.

Que te mejores pronto Facu! 🙏🏼

Great to see a fan of Lewis Dunk sitting behind, we’re truly global.

CAM? Not so sure. We’ve got plenty of those.

I’ve got the lad pegged as back-up to March as an inverted right winger. He seemingly has the strength, pace, dribbling ability, shooting and passing to play that role. I can’t think of a better fit if March is injured/rested.

I’m thinking ahead - We won’t have ’plenty’ after the summer window if we loose Caidcedo and Mac Allister.

Earlier in the thread you were suggesting it would take a few seasons for him to have a regular start because you see him as a replacement for March or even that he would be going to Brussels in February- I think he’s much better than that and think he will be a permanent member of the first team and getting regular minutes this season, not as a permanent replacement for March but as a ‘understudy’ for Mac Allister and by 2023/4 his replacement - although, given his versatility and overall need for improvement, I imagine we’ll see him moved around a bit initially.

Facundo played CAM at Rosario and is on record as saying that’s his preferred position however, positionally he is very versatile - he has the potential to play as a winger on the Right (but as we see from his YT clips, he does have a weak right foot) or as you say, injury back up for March as we don’t have anyone else really that could cover March’s position - a no.10, even a 6 or 8.

However, for me he could ultimately be the replacement for Mac Allister (and is in fact more highly rated in Argentina than Mac Allister was when we signed him in 2019 and sent him straight back to Argentinos jnrs and then Boca jnrs). Yes, he has great dribbling strengths and very good acceleration (which makes him a great March back up) but he also has the ability to defend, block the oppos CMF counter-attacks and his short passing is also very good, everything else will improve under RDZ. (No? 😉)

yes can essentially see him covering the 'lallana role' with other players while he's out. think having a left footed who's excellent in those one Vs one situations is something we need more of, so we could see him moved to the right at points but ultimately I think he's the sort of player you'd want operating in the central areas behind the striker

Yep - and was placed today in his debut against the Cherries, exactly where I imagined he would be - sitting deep behind the forwards.

Only 19 mins or so but I thought he looked confident out there and moved well. It was a scrappy game for him to debut in and he had very few touches but his positional awareness looked very good I thought. He definitely has a ‘presence’ about him.

Real shame Facu’s goal was disallowed for Undav’s clear offside - there also seemed to be a breakdown of communication between them too which led to us being dispossessed in MF and Fulham scoring.

I thought the youngster however made an immediate impact and is looking even more confident than before and clearly very comfortable in an CAM position - he was exciting to watch today. Can see him having a start in a league game before the end of the season.😍

Unfortunate communication issues with Undav without a doubt. I can imagine both of their thought processes as they went to/left the ball which led to the goal today:

Undav - ‘I’m the experienced pro, I should take charge and get the ball”

*Undav moves towards the ball*

Buonanotte - ‘I’m clearly the quicker and more technically gifted player, I’ll take charge and get the ball’

*Buonanotte moves towards the ball*

Undav - ‘Oh shit, Facu’s going for the ball too, he’s quicker and more technically gifted than me, I better leave it for him.’

*Undav stops moving towards the ball*

Buonanotte - ‘Oh shit, Deniz is going for the ball too, he’s more experienced than me, I better leave it for him’

*Buonanotte stops moving towards the ball*

*Fulham score*

Looked very good when he came on, the keystone cops bit apart.

When Ferg is fit I'd like to see him come on alongside him if we go two up top.

The Undav situation is not OK.

We badly need to shovel Undav out. He has all the characteristics of our recent offensive underperformers: poor first touch; inadequate delivery; can’t score. He doesn’t need more time with us, he needs more time somewhere else. Buonanotte, by comparison, looks class.
