Still sold after one season Cucurella had signed a five year deal. I notice MC is not for sale unless it’s an eye watering fee, so he is for sale just not for £60m

You can just see where this is going, Chelsea will bid 80m on 11pm on Tuesday night, he will leave and we won’t have time to get a replacement.
Arsenal won’t offer that kind of money but a desperate Chelsea might, at what point does all this tossing money getting thrown around just lose all its value?
What’s the point of 80m in the bank when we won’t be able to replace him and it derails our season? Not really sure, I get the club needs these kind of transfer fees to be sustainable but it’s only a matter of time before the conveyor runs out of steam.
I feel like this season is our best chance we are ever going to get at possibly breaking the top 7/8, it would be very cruel to see that chance ripped away.

It’s just the truth, we are having a golden spell of young/+ talented players, time will tell whether our recruitment will be as good post Winstanley and co.
Do you ever see us getting a better squad and situation (other ‘bigger’ teams struggling) to try and break into Europe?
This is the best Brighton squad ever, by a distance IMO, and the feeling around the club of positivity and progress saps away every time one of the bloodsuckers vultures off our most talented players, in such putting us back in our place and where we ‘belong’

Every player is for sale at the right price and the right time. It's the same at every club in the world. Length of contract etc doesn't matter, in fact the longer left on the deal the more we can potentially sell a player for.
Did you get this upset when we sold Aaron Mooy 6 months after he signed a 3.5 year deal with us?
Winstanley headed up the recruitment team, but the data and the engine that drives the data belongs to Tony Bloom, that hasn't gone anywhere. Neither have the scouts on the ground who go to games and watch these players and produce some of the reports that feed into those systems. Tony Bloom is far too shrewd to leave any department at the club dependent on one person.

As mentioned before, they need to bin the January transfer window. Why was it ever brought in? Surely loans can cover injuries etc. Or am I being thick?

Who said I was upset? I find it a little ridiculous these players can’t be arsed to give us a couple of seasons at least. It’s an usual situation that is not happening to other PL clubs.

You can imagine us having a better midfield that Caicedo, Lallana/Gross and Mac? It’s one of the best midfields in the league. You must have a pretty fierce imagination because if anything this fiasco just proves as soon as you get players who are a higher level they leave.
Mitoma and March on fire, Dunk in the peak of his powers, world class midfield, a top young goalkeeper… only thing missing is a true top class forward (Ferguson?)

I wonder how much money a run in Europe would bring in? Perhaps selling Caicedo at top whack would be more beneficial (financially) to the club in the long run.
Qualifying for Europe is no way a given, even with Caicedo.
If he does get prized away from us it’ll be disappointing BUT the club is pretty good at finding players these days and £70/80m buys a lot. It wouldn’t be the absolute end of the world especially if he doesn’t want to be here.
