Unfortunately I believe MC will go this window. TB and PB and especially RDZ will not want this dragging on til June. We got told Cucurella will not be sold in last window but he was. The timing is crap and the way Caicedo has been advised is nothing short of Shambolic...but we knew he would be off come the summer anyway. I actually thought after reading another thread that I wish we were selling to City and somehow they would throw in Phillips as a loan until the end of season...but that would be too unrealistic! 75M is a good price but we won't find a fit between now and Tuesday. Maybe it's time for Gimour to shine and Fancundo to hurry up and get fit and hope RDZ to work a bit more of his Latin magic. Goodbye Moises, good luck and well done for making your two Bob agents a little bit richer when they've made you look like a bit of a chump!
No one of authority in the club said Cucu wouldn’t be allowed to leave.

I think there’s a time when the club has to stand firm. Perhaps it will mean Caicedo is pissed off and sulks for a few months. Perhaps it means we get less for him in the summer. But if we give in this time, where does it stop? There’s value in putting down a marker…whether that’s keeping the agents at bay, or sending a message to the players. Difficult to put actual £££s to those things, but I’m sure it’ll be added to the mix.
Trossard was different - we had a ready made replacement, and his contract was running down. Cucurella was different (timing, plus Chelsea clearly paid well over the odds).
Anyway - not sure if those observations are useful….just keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

Fortunately your guess is as good as mine.

Blimey five posts in 7 years four of which on this subject 👀

Football is fast approaching a dangerous crossroads - do we essentially make it lawless, a free, open market in which contracts are purely terms of goodwill (eg players can just leave when they wish and clubs can release them too, regardless of contract terms)….or do we actually enforce terms and punish, robustly, those who break the rules?

Because quite frankly, the current situation is an utter mess in which the parasites (sorry, agents) hold all the cards.

And let’s not even get started on the agents‘ bottom-feeding sidekicks - the club officials. Agents are nothing without clubs stirring the pot and effectively legitimising their ugly practices…..

Football may be alive, but it’s soul is dying….

I don’t get this MC’s value will be lower in the summer. Yes, there will be more players on the market than January but the level of world class talent for his skills at his age is rare and will maintain his value. He’s too hungry to sit on his backside for the next few months.

Why would Albion name a price for something they don’t want to sell? Basic. Up to the buyer to pique the club’s interest. As for the bit about the price dropping, if we qualify for Europe thanks partly to Caicedo, are we really going to care if we get £20m less? In fact, I’m sure we’d be very willing to accept less in the summer than what we’d want now and always have been. It’s strange how so few of these outside commenters can grasp that there’s more to this than just money, and also seem to think #teamslikebrighton should meekly accept their place in a pre-defined pecking order. Baffling. We’re in the top 6 and want to remain there. Really not difficult to understand.

Exactly, spot on analysis. Hits the spot in regard to how #teamslikebrighton break into the fabled top 6. It’s not a cartel and frustrates the hell out of me why other clubs don’t get a look in.

Nope - the club posted that no deal had been done in response to a whole load of SM claims that Cucu had signed for City, which was correct at the time. That only changed when Chelsea decided to make a ridiculous offer

Completely trust Uncle Tone on this one - either we'll sell for another absolutely ridiculous amount of money or MC (don't rule out Boehly being daft again before Tuesday) will have a cosy chat about the facts of life with some senior people and be back on it for the Bournemouth game.

Nor does anyone else with sense. The CL clubs will have even more money, edging towards the vast new funding and all the top clubs here and in Spain requiring a midfield powerhouse will have their ducks in a row, for example, having decided which players will be moved on.

The marketplace today of Arsenal and a tentative Chelsea, will look very different.

You were doing quite well until the second and third words of your uninformed speculation… next!

Indeed. And I didn't like the whole " I'm just a little poor boy and all the family live in a mud hut" angle. Nor the " I'd be proud.........." bollocks!
indeed. Having to give away part of his £1M a year to family in Ecuador just doesn’t go very far nowadays
