This is all very fascinating.

The biggest thing at stake here, even more so than £60m+, is the reputation of the club.

On one hand, we want to a club that appeals to top young talent, allowing them to move on when the time is right.

On the other hand, we cannot let players and their agents dictate our transfer policies and manipulate moves like this.

It seems as if TB is staying firm, Caicedo is NOT for sale... but of course every player has a price... and it ain't £65m.

I don’t care if he’s 21, he’s a little wanker if he hasn’t turned up for training. Needs to learn respect for the people who are paying his wages, by buying season tickets etc. People work hard all week to earn money to go to games and then the players can’t even be bothered to train, because they want to earn 10x what the the fans do. He lacks so much respect he should be f***ing ashamed of himself. Scrote.
I understand your sentiments but I wouldn’t take all of that as gospel. Just wait until everything pans out before blowing your fuse. I still believe that he’s being coerced into all of this shit, and no doubt, we will find out what is and what is not true soon enough.

Refusing to train

Maybez. Not turning up for training may have other reasons. He wants to leave, that much is clear, but him not being at the training ground may as well be a club decision... we'll hear more about it soon enough.

And by the way - if we do buckle , then it sets a poor example to the squad that basically - don’t turn up to training and you’ll get a move.
The whole Trossard affair already made it clear that in Brighton these days, internal issues are settled externally. If the manager can sit at a press conference telling the world about the issues with a player, surely a player can go on social media telling the world about the (from his perspective) issues with a club. Hopefully TB or PB or someone gathers the people in the club and tell everyone to shut the f*** up and solve situations internally instead.

Fine lines. But keeping him unless the massive bid comes in is the best way forward for the club IMO

Stories had already leaked from Trossard and the club knew his agent was going to release something so got in there first. Nothing wrong with that, even if we did ‘reward’ the bad behaviour

it’s strange these days I read about this fantastic opportunity I’ve been offered, what a club five places above us we are hardly Accrington Stanley totally different scenario now compared to the old days. Yes you get a few more thousand in wages which will be taxed to hell

Quite tragic really that an agency has meant that someone who doesn’t have a grasp of the English language and is 21 in a foreign country is just gonna get a load of abuse so they can get a pay out and play it out on social media. Don’t think they understand the damage it’ll do. Oh well they got their quick buck.

First comments about Trossard happened more than a week before we had heard anything from him or his agent. It was handled very poorly.
The club left Trossard & his agent with little option but to go out and give their own version of the events.

If that’s true then how comes players are allowed to just refuse to train?

I might refuse to go into work, see how that goes.
He has been given the time off by the club

Training doesn't even start for another hour.

Now of all the social media guff that is floating out there, this I find believable (mostly because I want it to be true). I suspect the club have told Moises he is not going anywhere this week, and that he will get his move in the summer. MC does not strike me as being a DH although he is quite obviously seen as a gravy train by his "representatives". I think MC will personally be ok with staying for the rest of the season even if those seeking to exploit him are not.

This whole thing utterly stinks and the likes of Romano acting as paid sh*t stirrers only make it worse. It's about time the Big Six found their own talent rather than trying to steal ours. Any success we get this season will have been achieved under the most trying of circumstances and will be all the more admirable for it.

I just dont see how players behave like this and can have any sense of moral high ground or think they're acting in the right way. Making that crap statement and then not turning up to training, clearly you're the one in the wrong. Such poor behaviour.
Trossard set the example.
Romano is a shit stirring ****. Yesterday he was implying that Caicedo was told/asked not to be at training, now he's saying he didn't turn up. Don't believe a word this prick says his only agenda is to push the transfer and try and drive a wedge between the club/fans and Moises.

I wouldn't be surprised if Romano gets a percentage from agents when a sale is forced through.

It's such a fine line we have to walk in response to this.

Take the hard-line approach and put our foot down might discourage future signings from joining.

Take the other route and we look a soft touch with regards to player power.

It's all just a bit shit, isn't it? I know our business model will always invite this particular situation but f*** me, if we could have just a little stability for a bit that'd be nice.
I don't think it is a fine line. To me it's very simple - we don't sell.

If we do we give a green light to every player/agent/'buying' club to treat us with complete disregard and disrespect. It destroys any opportunity of building something at the Albion as it'll say to every single player in the squad and that signs in the future that we'll let them go as and when the player wants regardless of the situation it leaves the club in.

It would also mean that we'd end up selling players for below their value to us. It would be a complete and utter unmitigated disaster.

Which is why we won't sell. Unless that unbelievably ridiculous offer comes in. Personally I wouldn't even sell then...
