Just the singular Bale, l'm surprised he didn't do it when Wales exited the World Cup though, l thought that would have been the perfect time to announce it.
On his day was genuinely "world class" and arguably the British Isles most successful export with 3x La Liga titles and 5x ECL titles. Shame how his career meandered to a close as a relatively young age, but it's probably fair to say his love of the game wasn't there anymore

Seemingly out of favour at Real Madrid for long spells, he didn't get to play in too many games, Wales much hyped appearance at the World Cup Finals was over almost before it started . . . yes l can understand it too.

Best British player of the 2010s?
certainly for the second half.

surprised he's retired altogether, at 33 could have blagged another couple of seasons, so credit for knowing when to stop.

He was an immense player in his heyday which a lot of people forget owing to recency bias, one of the best British players of all time IMO. Proper big game player too.

Carrying a Wales team consisting of mainly Football League journeymen to unprecedented success for more than a decade as well is some achievement.

Good luck to him. He rinsed Real Madrid for (a reported) £500k a week and shouldn’t need to work again if he’s invested it wisely.
No need to invest - he shouldn't need to work again if he just used it to stuff mattresses in his many roomed houses.
